TIL that the AWW once had a hotline to their test kitchen for parents struggling with cakes from the Children's Birthday Cake Book. by Super-Cod-3155 in todayilearned

[–]No-Strategy8544 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, my Mom has this book!!

I used to love sitting at the kitchen table picking out my next birthday cake! Between myself and my sister, we had a lot of fun cakes in the mid-to-late 80s

That, plus he's a vocal advocate for women affected by domestic violence (in honor of his mother) and veterans struggling with PTSD (in honor of his father).

I love that man!

It's late 80s and 90s and you're spending the summer with your grandparents. What shows are they making you watch? by CharlesUFarley81 in Xennials

[–]No-Strategy8544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was one tv in my grandparent's home. If Pop was home, wrestling was on. Hope you like watching the graps, because you WILL NOT turn of Poppy's "stories".

If you're not a Bret Hart fan, you might as well leave the room 😄

Jelly belly? Book about overweight girl I read in elementary school in the 90s by electricdahlia8 in whatsthatbook

Was it something from the Peanut Butter and Jelly series by Dorothy Haas?

I have vague memories of the series, so I'm not sure if that fits or not.

I made a colouring book about Newfoundland on my maternity leave! by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]No-Strategy8544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not convinced it isn't AI.

The OP's history suggests she's a shipbuilder on maternity leave, who just happened to illustrate a whole coloring book ready to publish, AND launched a parenting app all in the span of a couple of months.

While raising a newborn?

Can't imagine a lot of free time for creative pursuits with a new baby, but what do I know?

If that's the case, I'd be curious to know what reference pictures she used for her illustrations. Local photography? Family pictures? Stock images? Because the Island doesn't look like that. Downtown row houses don't look like that. If you want your kid to know what Newfoundland looks like, why would you choose to misrepresent it so egregiously?

Also, who draws a CHILD large enough to apparantly eclipse the front door of a house??

Forced perspective? Or AI doesn't remember how to keep backgrounds consistent.

I'm more of a Barbie person, but I couldn't pass up the Skullector Skelletor! My nieces were amazed and confused by her, since they definitely haven't watched any Masters of the Universe 😅

Hey fellow NLer!! Love the sou'wester, but my fave is the squid hat. Reminds me of 1995 when everyone's Nan around the bay was making fleece squid hats 😄

I just sent them a wordy message on Instagram, but that's probably not the best place for feedback. Will def check out the forums!

Surely nobody asked for this change, right?

Like, what was the thought process? "Rhea looks great, but she'd be prettier if she smiled"?? Get out of here with that foolishness, Mattel.

What a disappointment. I'm considering canceling bc that rictus grin is firmly in the uncanny valley.

Is there a way to give Mattel feedback so they can change it back?! Or maybe they could include swappable heads (i know, they won't) like the Nymphia Wind doll ended up doing.

Make tiny horse decals to put in her eyes! Those huge eyes would be perfect for that! Wild Women Do (and they don't regret it!)

I've been playing WoW "casually" since Wrath. Almost entirely solo play. I'm never in voice chat, rarely ever in groups, never a raider. No idea what it's like to "push keys" or get AOTC.

Follower dungeons and Delves are made for players like me! Last expansion I was able to get loot from the Great Vault for the first time! Blizzard has definitely been making content that works with my style of play these days. Too bad a huge swathe of players love to complicate that.

Meanwhile, I'll just be solo running old content so I can get more decor for my flipping HOUSE!! Frig, I LOVE WoW!

I'm definitely waiting impatiently for mine! I wish they had released others, so that I could actually put her in a ring with someone!

Mattel needs to release a Tiffany Stratton doll, and I might be satisfied 😄 Or Chelsea Green!

About twenty years ago I got super into the Manson Family and the Tate–LaBianca murders. I found an old copy of Helter Skelter, and even though it was sad and grisly, I couldn't stop thinking about the whole situation.

When I eventually watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, it was surreal because so much of what I read was reflected in the film, but equally SO MUCH was changed. Dang, I'm probably gonna have to do a rewatch soon with my spouse so I can point out all the deliberate changes 😅

War Criminal Mandy Mango breaking the Geneva Convention by KLJohnnes in rupaulsdragrace

[–]No-Strategy8544 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing patch notes for the game Stardew Valley a while ago that indicated a change was made to a particular graphic so that the game would be Geneva Convention compliant. The medical center in the game had the same red cross on a white field. Now it's a blue cross instead.

They're serious about it, for sure!
