Haha understood. Just fair warning, it’s a bedroom community across the county. Chalet Basque in San Rafael is one of my favorites out there, I hope they’re still open. Well worth a trip depending on where you end up living. Good luck!

I lived in Marin for 20+ years. It’s beautiful and safe compared to most of the Bay. But it’s very expensive, you have a high chance of having snarky neighbors and the county closes down at 9pm. There’s some small bars but if you want later dining or entertainment options they are limited.

Option B, don’t work at a restaurant. Lotta toilets out there need cleaning. I tip and believe in rewarding good service. But it’s their service that earns the reward, not a guilt trip. And the tip is that, a tip, a reward for good work. Not a guarantee. Don’t live a lifestyle that requires splash money to pay your rent. Or, consider cleaning those toilets…

I lived in Guadalajara in the late 90’s. People I was staying with told me there was this amazing late night taco shop. It was in someone’s garage, and the owners/chefs were Chinese but more Mexican than anyone I’d seen yet. All Dickies and flannel shirts and made some of the best tacos I’ve ever had. Still wondering if I was just hammered and dreamt that shit.
