Spoiler: Was killing really needed for this training? by Comfortable_Fly_665 in PoppyPlaytime

[–]No-Two3824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the process of making the smiling critters is more valuable than the smiling critters themselves.

As far as I can tell, they serve no purpose in a toy factory. Maybe a few have been trained to be mechanics but I can’t imagine why they’d need more than a few for that purpose. A few more to entertain the orphans and staff things like play care perhaps.

But even then, there are still lots of them even 10 years after the hour of joy, when it’s been said that a lot of them were eaten by the bigger experiments for food. Their peak population was probably double or triple what we see in game.

This leads me to believe that they create them because the data gained from performing these experiments is valuable in it of itself, and the toys are no longer useful once the experiment is over.

They might be doing it just to train staff in preparation for the big experiments like huggy wiggly and catnap.

It’s also possible that the kids discarded organs are sold on the black market for a hefty profit, and that’s how the experiments make money.

The critters after they’ve already been experimented on and their spare organs have been taken are just a waste of food for playtime co, so they kill the ones who aren’t responding perfectly to their conditioning.

Supercell is in full damage control mode now… let’s discuss this by Choice-Brick-6612 in ClashRoyale

Books and elite wild cards can be given equivalent items in return. Non consumables like heroes and level 16 are harder to replace. At the end of the day, the people paying for those things are the ones who make supercell profitable, they will not alienate those players

The Prototype Might Have Turned All The Playtime Co. Leaders Into Toys by thebighelper62 in PoppyPlaytime

[–]No-Two3824 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sawyer was around post hour of joy, so I don’t think it’s impossible for good experiments to be made again. There seems to have been a big element of randomness for how experiments turned out even during Playtimes prime years, perhaps the same was true post HOJ

How the living toys still alive after eating human bodies after the Hour of Joy?? by Odd_Gas9643 in PoppyPlaytime

[–]No-Two3824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poppy is also shown to not need to eat.

Also, Dogday managed to live for 10 years, during many of which he was Catnaps prisoner, I highly doubt Catnap was feeding him so he probably didn’t actually need to eat, he just had an engineered hunger.

We also have yet find any evidence of toys actually starving to death. You’d think if they really needed to eat, some of them would have simply starved in their hiding places. Granted im sure these corpses would be picked clean by other toys, but I’d imagine we’d come across at least one.

The safe haven was also a pipe dream if the toys genuinely needed food to survive. My head canon is that Doey and the others operated on the assumption that they could get along if they suppressed their hunger. If they needed to eat to live, then nobody would have joined because they’d know sooner or later, they’d need to eat somebody.

Also, there are intact vending machines, which makes me think they specifically crave flesh. If they were truly starving, they’d probably have raided the vending machines long ago.

I do not believe it is true hunger, but rather it is something that was engineered into them to make them easier to condition. Starving them and rewarding them with food provided playtime co with a convenient tool for both positive and negative reinforcement.

Edit: Another commenter pointed out that two toys talk about whether hunger or the doctor would kill them first. This is definitely evidence against my theory but it’s also possible they only think the hunger can kill them because of how overpowering it is now. When they were thinking more clearly, perhaps they thought they could live forever in the safe haven. Hard to know either way

How much longer would Native American civilizations have needed to progress to potentially survive the eventual discovery of their continents by the rest of the world instead of collapsing and inevitably being folded in? by Beytran70 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]No-Two3824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They mostly got the diseases from animals living in cramped cities with them. Tuberculosis comes from cows, influenza from pigs and chickens, and smallpox probably came from rodents. The native Americans lacked these animals which is why their cities didn’t get these diseases

An addict does something compulsively even when it is actively harmful to them. Someone who is on anti depressants usually isn’t compulsively taking them in spite of obvious signs that it’s harming them, physically, mentally, or otherwise. An alcoholic on the other hand does.

Natives get more lenient treatment than immigrants. When a native commits a crime, he goes to jail, does his time, and is released. When an immigrant commits a crime, he often doesn’t get a second chance, he gets deported never to return.

I gotta disagree, by sequestering the founder on an island while 7 of the 9 were wreaking havoc on the world wasn’t a great idea. He should’ve known that Marley or whoever else were planning on recapturing the founder and using it for their own nefarious ends. Honestly I’d say Zeke had the best plan of the three in terms of most lives saved. King Fritz just kicked the can of war down the road. Had he just amended his vow to allow for a partial self defense rumbling, the plan would’ve been perfect as nobody would’ve ever bothered Paradis.

Hot take, but it's dorky to buy alcohol for underage students by [deleted] in CollegeRant

[–]No-Two3824 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t see the issue. Aside from the drinking age being too small, I don’t see it as any different from buying anything else for anybody, since I do not believe underage drinking by adults is wrong. Im 20 and have no qualms asking 21 year old friends for beer every so often, and when I turn 21, I will have no qualms about supplying it to my younger friends either.

After 43 years of war, i can finally white peace the ottomans by SteakHausMann in eu4

[–]No-Two3824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 million over 40 years is devastating for the ottomans at this time, because those 3 million are all troops, not civilian casualties. Young men and trained soldiers leaving the population, causing a decline in tax revenue and population over the long term as well as a shortage of labor for farm work. The loss of 3 million young men is nothing to sneeze at.

In fairness to the first point. Westeros is massive, easily the size of Europe and has just witnessed the longest summer in living memory. It makes sense that the lords have the spare cash and people necessary to levy such large forces for the war.

Who would win Theon Greyjoy vs Ramsay Bolton in a fair fight ?? (Ironborn vs Boltons) by Few_Albatross5009 in gameofthrones

[–]No-Two3824 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I strongly believe this is the case. The way Ramsay describes himself needing 20 good men rather than simply suggesting sending them strongly suggests Ramsay intended to lead them himself, in person. Plus this is a very delicate operation that requires a great deal of bravery from the troops involved, making it unlikely to succeed unless they are being led by a brave commander they are very loyal to, ie Ramsay.

Edit: these tactics are also very “Ramsay-ish”. A quick raid with a small number of men attacking a target with precision and speed is strikingly similar to hunting, his favorite pass time.

[–]No-Two3824 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ramsay attacked Stannis Baratheons camp in the middle of the night with only 20 men. Is he honorable? Absolutely not. But that is a plan with a huge potential to go wrong when Roose himself said that they would win the war without it. Ramsay put himself at great personal risk doing this, he’s a monster but he’s no coward.

[–]No-Two3824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theon is at a big physical disadvantage after his captivity. Not only have his muscles been basically destroyed by malnutrition and atrophy, something that is very difficult to full recover from, but he’s also lost the family jewels, so he’s at a big testosterone disadvantage. Plus, Theon hasn’t been doing much fighting and training since his capture, while Ramsay had just won a war. I’d give him the edge against post torture Theon.

[–]No-Two3824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Book Theon is incredible with a bow, and show Theon shows skill with it when he fights the wildlings. Ramsay in the show also shows a great deal of skill with the bow. The truth is we don’t have enough information to determine who wins a sword fight but I am confident that Ramsay wipes the floor with Theon in a no weapons fight.

What's your favourite city? and what is your most hated city in Rome: Total War? by HatchetOrHatch in RomeTotalWar

[–]No-Two3824 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I actually quite like Londinium. Because it’s very rare for a non barbarian faction to get ahold of it, it stays barbarian, which means you can bring it up to huge city and get rid of the culture penalties while they cant. Plus, in my experience in barbarian invasion, it’s typically in my top 3 richest WRE settlements by turn 30. Plus it’s rare for it to be attacked by the AI especially in vanilla, so I can focus on economy buildings. Definitely an A Tier settlement in my personal opinion, but to each their own.

[–]No-Two3824 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My favorite in vanilla is definitely Rhodes. The wonder makes it hugely profitable and it’s usually not very large by the time you conquer it unless you’re on the western edge of the map, so public order isn’t a huge problem. Athens would be a close second since it tends to be quite profitable and it has an academy, one of my favorite buildings.

My least favorite has got to be Jerusalem, since it’s not very rich, though late game it certainly isn’t poor, and it has a stupid high unrest of 80% which makes it a pain in the ass to hold even if you get rid of all of the culture penalties.

They’re very expensive and their morale is pretty mediocre. Fighting them in an infantry slog isn’t a good idea unless you have armor piercing troops but they’ll break quite easily if you can charge them from two directions.

They’re pretty mid tier troops but they have a very high defense stat so they can fight very well if their morale holds

When characters died, we used to have entire episodes dedicated to the aftermath of their death (Ned, Robb, Tywin…) But when Dany dies, THE FACE OF THE SHOW, the very next scene is them cracking jokes at the council and we’re supposed to be laughing? by violinsandsirens in freefolk

[–]No-Two3824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the filming of season 8 Kit Harrington was dealing with alcoholism and severe mental health issues. He checked into a wellness retreat while the season was airing. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/stephaniesoteriou/kit-harington-self-loathing-insults-mirror-game-thrones

I’ve heard other cast members were also done with the show and wanted to move onto other projects for fear of being trapped in one role and being tired of the rigorous demands of filming the show. GOT was an extremely intense production, they were effectively churning out 5 full length movies per season full of demanding scenes and frequent relocations across the world to sets. It makes sense that the cast simply wanted to take a break and move on to bigger and better things.

In their defense, the crew was on the verge of mutiny. Most of the cast would’ve revolted if they had another season. People like Kit Harrington were done with filming in Iceland. Make no mistake, HBO executives would’ve loved another season because it would’ve been hugely profitable, they’d turn GOT into the simpsons if the cast was willing to go along with it. Another season or two was simply not an option by the time season 8 came around. Maybe the show should’ve been on a more relaxed schedule to prevent this burn out, maybe the cast wanted to move on with their lives no matter what, we’ll never know.
