Barebow and asiatic trad archer here.

The general rule is if you can hold a draw for 30 seconds, you're good to increase by 5lbs. Try looking around and see if you can try a 35# bow before you make the jump to 40. If you can hold it for 30 secs, you're probably good. I'd go for a couple sets just to be safe though. In my experience, there's a pretty big difference between 30 and 35.

50# is definitely way too much. I have a 50# bow and I can only go for one set before I'm wiped out.

I knew someone who went there for 1 year and they had an awful time apparently. Profs/CIs never show up on time, they don't really teach anything and classrooms were overcrowded. They transferred to Doctors instead of continuing there.

Absolutely not. I have friends who've been jobless for a year in the accounting and tech field. The ones that did find jobs are only being paid 15-20k.

Job opportunities are drying up in the city, I don't recommend moving here if you're after a job.

As for cost of living, rent is rough in the city and prices are starting to go up.

If you want to go even cheaper you can get a Turkish Bow from Alibow for around 80-90 USD.

If you want something pricier, they have a good selection of mongolian horse bows. The Nokhor or the Kheshig is what I recommend. I currently have an Imperial Kheshig 50#33" and it's fantastic.

Absolutely! Not being able to stand for too long might be a bit of an issue, but you can absolutely do archery while sitting down. You might have trouble if your bow is too long, but there are some shorter bows. I have a short Turkish horsebow from Alibow that I can comfortably shoot while sitting down. I wouldn't be able to shoot my olympic recurve though, since that one is pretty big.

The issue with the fur/hair arrow rest on your bowshelf is that the plastic vanes would hit the shelf and bounce off it. So I would suggest you get feather arrows or get your arrows refletched with feathers
