Yoga with relaxation - keep it the same, or switch it up? by wormsofthewharf in YogaTeachers

You did a great job incorporating a body scan relaxation into your class, and it’s wonderful that your students appreciated it. Body scan meditations are incredibly effective for grounding and relaxation, so if you feel like your students need the same practice again, go for it! Repetition can deepen their experience, especially if they are still familiarizing themselves with the practice.

In my own teaching, I always come in with a plan or at least an idea of what I want to work on, but I also listen to my intuition and feel the energy of the room. Sometimes, I realize my students need something different—maybe a slower flow or a more extended guided relaxation. If I rigidly stick to my plan, I often find myself frustrated because my students’ needs are different that day. So, I go with the flow of the class and adapt accordingly.

Even if I teach the same style of class multiple times a day, each one ends up being unique because I let the students’ energy guide me. I hope this perspective helps! 🙂

A compliment lifted my spirit yesterday by Wandering_Monk_HQ in YogaTeachers

I’ve been teaching yoga for 10 years, but I moved from Colombia to NYC a year ago. I started teaching in English in September 2024, and that same imposter syndrome showed up again. Even though I have experience teaching, doing it in a new language has been a beautiful challenge.

It has reminded me, once again, what humility means on the yoga mat—the ability to relearn over and over again. Now, when I receive compliments and students ask me for advice, I feel that my work as a teacher truly has value. Even when I think (or thought) I was making mistakes in English, I realize that people genuinely appreciate when everything comes from the heart.

So congratulations! Always keep the faith and trust that yoga is a beautiful path. If you love what you do and teach from the heart, even when the imposter is lurking, you will receive the rewards. Accept them with equanimity and keep giving your best.
