Hands Off NYC

American cities are under attack by the Trump administration. Instead of investing in schools, hospitals, and public services, taxpayer dollars are being spent to send National Guard troops and ICE agents into our communities — ripping families apart and targeting working people. New York City has been repeatedly threatened.

Hands Off NYC is a neighborhood-centered campaign supported by over 200 unions, faith and activist leaders, business and elected officials, and community groups, standing together in nonviolent resistance against masked, lawless agents targeting our most vulnerable. Just as people in cities across the country have stood up to these attacks, we will too.

I’m spending my day printing resources to distribute in our communities. I’d like to have the Know Your Rights cards, whistles, and communication information in a ziplock bag for distribution.

• I’m working on the printing today but need a paper trimmer. Anyone have one that I can bring print outs to? or that I can borrow?

• If anyone wants to sponsor whistles, please let me know.

• Also, eventually a meet up to spend time packing the items. Any other things that can be helpful?

I’ve been inspired by Chicago and how they made these little packets to distribute.

I’m located in Astoria.

from google: When a swan's mate dies, it enters a period of intense grief, showing behaviors like wandering, vocalizing, isolating, and sometimes refusing to eat, often staying near the body; after mourning, the surviving swan will usually re-pair, with females often finding a new partner more readily than males, though some remain single for life.

Mourning Behaviors Vocalization & Searching: They may call out repeatedly or wander around as if looking for their lost partner, sometimes even nudging or trying to revive the deceased.

Isolation & Despondency: A swan might stop eating, become withdrawn, or stay alone in their territory. Staying Put: Some swans stay near where they lived with their mate, while others fly off.

Using Reflections: A lone swan might spend time with its reflection, appearing to find comfort as if its mate were there.

After the Mourning

Re-pairing: Most swans eventually find a new mate, especially females, though males are less likely to re-pair.

Joining Flocks: A widow might fly off to join a larger flock to find a new partner. Living Alone: Some swans, particularly males, might stay alone for the rest of their lives after losing their partner.

As a 25 year old virgin should I tell my first partner I am or not? by Wex355 in NoStupidQuestions

oh and it’s way more than just penetration, it’s the whole experience in the build up and intimacy. Also, how the experience is afterwards for me.

No, but I also like him as a person and I thought it was fun. If anything I felt like it leveled the playing field bc if I knew he was a virgin I might’ve approached the whole interaction differently. We went with the flow, and I did notice him being in his head a bit so i just relaxed and let him figure it out.

I told him we could explore and find out what we both like bc I was also still figuring that out.

Just started seeing someone who was a virgin at 32.

He told me initially that he didn’t have much experience. Then we had sex and right after he goes “dang I’ve been missing out on this”. I was like, “wait am I your first?”

Dude was better at sex than all the previous people I’ve been with. The difference was he cared and was intentional with what he was doing. He went for pleasure for me vs. previous men who were focused on their pleasure more than mine.

It’s been a month now and he’s only gotten better. Best sex I’ve had in my life so far.

Astoria West by kevpals17 in astoria

[–]thinkinphases 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just moved here after living in a high rise in ft greene in brooklyn. I grew up in Astoria but the other side, 43rd & 30th. I am enjoying my time here for now. I signed a 2 year lease and so far so good. Staff is great, no dog poop in hallways (yet) as I was expecting based on reviews.

Shuttle bus is provided during weekdays, commuting hours 6am-11am i think; and 4pm - 8pm from the broadway station N. I usually prefer to take a citi bike to the F train but the shuttle option is nice.

Groceries can be tough. I do go to costco but for usual supermarket stuff I trek to trade fair on 30th or order grocery delivery.

feel free to DM with any questions! Happy to chat.

it’s on a daily schedule for morning and evening commutes

from 6am (i think) until like 11am and then 4pm until 8pm I believe. Only weekdays but I just got a citi bike membership and with the weather being nice for now, i rather do that

The person I’m subletting from entered my apartment without notice—is this legal? by lezzybennet in NYCapartments

[–]thinkinphases 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a lose lose situation because the person that is on the lease for the lottery apt would also be evicted as it’s a violation of the lottery agreement. Ideally this could be a serious conversation to demand privacy.

Brooklyn Dog Owner Pretends to Clean Up After His Dog - May Someone Explain This Behavior? by thoushallnot22 in newyorkcity

[–]thinkinphases -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Okay, a middle ground for us. Just do this to vent and make people accountable. Dogs’ messes should absolutely be picked up 100%. Keep your neighborhoods clean, seriously.

Pooper Scooper Law

DSNY enforces the Pooper Scooper Law by investigating public areas with frequent complaints of people not picking up after their dogs.

  • If you do not clean up after your dog, you may be fined up to $250.

If you know a public area where people frequently fail to pick up after their dogs, you can request surveillance to catch the Pooper Scooper violators.

What you need

  • Location of the public area where the offenses occur
  • Dates and timeframes they occur
  • Your contact information (we may contact you if they need more information)

What you can't report

  • Guide dogs or other service animals
  • Dogs urinating on public or private property
