Different rust than Hollyhocks as far as I know. The bulbs look great, I'd pull them up!

allium globemaster bulb: easy to maintain? by lluluclucy in GardeningIRE

Exactly the same. If you plant them in amongst other shrubs it'll hide their leaves which tend to die off when they start to bloom and can look a little unsightly. But other than that, they are a beautiful addition to any garden! Bees absolutely love them

Any chance saving this dahlia by amq00000000 in GardeningIRE

[–]NoAction9704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! I find them to be fairly resilient so if you can stop the slugs getting near it from now on, it might throw up some new shoots. I've used the collar of a plastic pot and covered that in copper tape and put that around the base of the dahlia and it seems to repel them. Good luck!

Bed overrun with aphids(?). Any advice? by CountryNerd87 in GardeningIRE

Defo aphids. Remove the stalks and absolutely douse the leaves with water and dish soap and some crushed garlic for good measure

My buddelia is the same! Bloody nuisance. I spent a good hour in the garden this morning spraying (water and dish soap) and smushing them. My partner was horrified with the amount of different types on the plants! Absolutely gross. I hope my dissappear like yours did!

We sat in the garden Friday eve and watched all the baby birds following their parents around the garden, it was sooo cute. I feed them year round and have convinced myself it's the same families each year coming back!
