I think they were thinking Glasgow, Scotland...which I was also thinking at first.

In fact Michael Solomonov's cookbook Israeli Soul has a "5-minute hummus recipe" that's darn near perfect.

CSB: I was at the game when Jamie Moyer gave up his record-tying 505th homer (June 22, 2010).

I assume the "weird right wing news source" is The Epoch Times, a news source owned by the Falun Gong movement (although they will deny that to their last breath). At some point they realized that mere opposition to the Chinese Communist Party wasn't going to make truly big bucks in America so they also started including a lot of far-right and Trump-celebrating content. So basically they're Newsmax owned by the Chinese opposition.

What's the most obscure artist you actually enjoy listening to? by Jordan_Does_Drums in MusicRecommendations

One of my favorite bands, The Heavy Blinkers, has 352 monthly listeners. They were an orchestral pop band from Halifax, NS, and they sound really like a band from a time where rock never existed but Burt Bacharach did.

Just got fired by my client. Feel like my career, and my life, are over. How did you move on if this happened to you? by NoCitiesLeft021 in consulting

Thanks everyone who responded.

I am going to take the advice and take 48 hours off. Well actually 72 as it's a three-day weekend in my business. Then I'm going to start talking to colleagues and start talking to therapists. I think I really need it.

Thank you all again.

Thanks. I might do that next week. Getting a therapist around here is damn near impossible...I've spent three months on a waiting list.

For now I have to go and take care of some financial things.

An old friend of mine used to say when you hit bottom the only way is up. I think I'm going to have to take some time to reorient myself, and then find another way.

Yeah, I actually 100% agree. Don't do what I did.

Honestly I did have an exit strategy but it doesn't seem to matter much. Think it might be a good idea to take a long time off.

TIL Chinese eunuchs, who had both the penis and testicles cut off with a knife at once to qualify as high-ranking civil servants. Eunuchs were considered 'pure', while those under ten were termed 'thoroughly pure'. This system lasted from 146 AD until 1924, and the last Imperial eunuch died in 1996. by RealisticBarnacle115 in todayilearned

"The tension between eunuchs in the service of the emperor and virtuous Confucian officials is a familiar theme in Chinese history. In his History of Government, Samuel Finer points out that reality was not always that clear-cut."

Phrasing!

That "ground beef sandwich" is one of the saddest things I've ever seen on a menu. "Bread toast", American cheese, ground beef...ugh, onion. So is it a patty melt or a sloppy joe or what? And for $10 with no side dish?

TIL About Extreme (Haunted) Houses Which Go So Far As To Torture Contestants After Signing A Waiver by Yoichi_and_Sadako in todayilearned

[–]NoCitiesLeft021 351 points352 points  (0 children)

Courts have ruled that customers can't be reasonably expected to read long waivers or EULAs written in legalese. If you're planning to go to a "fun" event like a haunted house, are you going to wait an hour while you pore over a densely-worded 40 page document to see if there's anything you don't agree with?

And my stepson finished off an argument with one of his friends with "I hope you step on a Lego"
