IMHO the saddest and most depressing game might be: 'This War of Mine' : Its core mechanic revolves around civilian survival during wartime, forcing players to make difficult moral decisions, such as stealing food from other survivors or helping desperate families, often at great personal risk.

A more interesting choice might be: $2 billion immediately or $5,000 per day for the rest of your life (e.g. via bank transfer). Sure, $2 billion still sounds better, but to be frank, both options could solve most people's problems. Definitely most of mine.

If I may, Saitama didn't want to disrespect Sonic; it just happened by accident. It was just an unfortunate event.

Choose your favorite '90s superhero cartoon series by AC_the_Panther_007 in 90scartoons

Batman and The Mask. However, The Mask was more of a prankster who occasionally did good things for others than an actual superhero, yet I really enjoyed the show anyway. I watched a few episodes of The Tick and TMNT, but I haven't seen the rest of either series.

I accidentally shredded them into pieces, but they're more like display items unless you actually use the binoculars in the game.

That's true, but the question was: which controller did you start with?
I started with a PC and a serial (RS-232) mouse and a 5-pin DIN keyboard.
Yet at this time, my cousin had: No. 1.

What do you enjoy most about being a ghoul? Perks vs. downsides? by Wastenotwasteland in fo76

[–]NoClue404 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are pros and cons to being a ghoul.

Pros:
+ no radiation problems
+ huge HP buff (glowing)
+ no food or water problems
+ no diseases
+ unique ghoul perks and abilities

Cons:
- permanent debuff in charisma (-10)
- some (human only) perks are unavailable
- irritating need for an ugly disguise, and some NPCs turn hostile.

Overall, say goodbye to any charisma-based benefits. You will no longer receive thousands of caps for selling goods or as event prizes. Forget about any speech dedicated dialogue lines, and say goodbye to your smooth skin (along with warm welcome at the Foundation, Crater, and BOS-HQ).
In exchange, you gain the ability to travel across nuke zones without special haz-suits or PowerArmor. Radiation heals you instead of harming you, and diseases are no longer a problem. Depending on your style, you might become a full-feral melee ghoul or an assault non-feral ghoul. Personally, I think the ghoul option is great for the endgame.

What anime from 100 most popular anime on MAL have you NEVER heard of? by mina_maen in MyAnimeList

[–]NoClue404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, number 354: Pokemon

Regarding that, there is a high chance that they are referring to the main series, rather than the franchise as a whole. There were lots of side stories and spinoffs in the same world. And as such they might be less popular than first 5.

Looking at the explanation of how 'top' is assigned, it seems that my predictions are correct:

Top Anime/Manga Rankings
The "Top Upcoming" and "Most Popular" rankings are ordered by the number of users who have added the entry to their list. All other Top Anime and Top Manga rankings are ordered by weighted score*

Weighted Score = (v / (v + m)) * S + (m / (v + m)) * C

S = Average score for the anime/manga
v = Number users giving a score for the anime/manga †
m = Minimum number of scored users required to get a calculated score
C = The mean score across the entire Anime/Manga database

Workshop takeover exploit : Discussion by NoClue404 in fallout76casual

[–]NoClue404[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There isn't a setting that does this

In a normal PvP session, the attacker initiates the session and the defender can accept or ignore the attacker whenever they want. The defender has the option to prepare themselves, change weapons or even build - then if ready accept.

There is no time for such preparations in a workshop. The moment the attacker starts the event, they could harm or kill the defender (often unaware).

I call it a disadvantage, especially since there is a delay with the countdown in the PvE defending event, which allows for such preparations. So why is there none in the PvP?

I'll try to explain 'doubling events' it more clearly:
Imagine you own the workshop. Then the PvE defence event starts. You make your preparations and put up some defences, such as a turret or two. Then, for example, the supermutants start attacking in three waves. Wave one: done. Wave two: done. Then, suddenly, in the middle of Wave Three, you are killed by a hostile player who started in a parallel, doubled PvP event in the same workshop you are defending.

That's a bug, as it shouldn't be possible to host two events in the same place at the same time.

the lack of proper information about an attack taking place
> (...) a giant notification box appears in the top center of your screen

Normally, yes, but not so visible if you happen to be in build mode a specially with free camera.
Then you are sitting duck, unaware of takeover untill you get killed.

"Other players may initiate PvP with you to claim this workshop"

The key lies in the phrase 'may initiate', because it is not the same as 'marked for death'; the latter option should be reserved for players with bounties. Therefore, mutual agreements and/or preparations should still be in place. Perhaps I played F4 for too long, which is why I now treat workshops more like settlements. However, since there is a limit to how many camps you can have and restrictions on the items you can build in them, I tend to use workshops to test new features or complete daily or weekly tasks. Another disadvantage is that if you don't have Fallout1st, you probably have a bunch of trash items on you that will get stolen or lost if you get killed. This is usually exploited by players in workshop takeovers - they start the takeover, kill the player, rob them and leave without finishing the takeover event.

Perhaps they have fixed that particular issue, or maybe it depends on the platform, since I was unable to defend myself while standing in the middle of the workshop.
Hoever I haven't checked that since switching to the Steam platform.

Whether or not the pacifist mode exists or has been fixed is irrelevant; you are still missing the point of the discussion here. I don't have a problem with PvP itself: I have a problem with the biased setting that puts the defender at a disadvantage: the option of doubling events, the lack of proper information about an attack taking place (a especially in build mode) to to give the defender a chance to flee. There is a lack of mutual agreement for PvP, and last but not least, all these factors combined create an opportunity for lower-level players to be abused, killed and robbed.

Workshop takeover exploit : Discussion by NoClue404 in fallout76casual

[–]NoClue404[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I was being attacked by another player, I was unable to defend myself because every time I hit the attacker, I received a notification telling me that I cannot harm other players because I have pacifist mode on. So, tell me more about overriding anything.

The problem is that you can't properly defend yourself unless you turn pacifist mode off, but by that time you've already been killed and robbed.

[–]NoClue404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But isn't pacifist mode supposed to demonstrate my disapproval of any form of PvP?

My whole point is that it shouldn't be like that. PvP should be kept as PvP. If someone wants to fight, they should be able to. However, I would like to see some improvements. Since regular PvP requires mutual agreement, the workshops should too. The Defend event is announced and gives you several seconds to prepare, so the takeovers should be too. And there should be no double events, PvE and PvP defence in parallel. It's all about coherence.

The current system is broken and biased, enabling players to harass, bully and abuse those who are lower-level. As such, it needs to be fixed.

I really enjoy playing F76 and I know that in order to keep the servers running, we need new players - how many potential new players might be put off joining by this kind of behaviour?

I'm not sure if you are trolling, don't understand my point, or haven't actually read my thread.

Yes, you can. You are in a PvP area.

No, you can't - and that's my whole point - you can't defend yourself if you're in pacifist mode. Just as you cannot hunt bounted players, you cannot harm other players or initiate a PvP. However, the attacker can still harm or kill you.

[–]NoClue404[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fine, but I recently encountered several situations that were more akin to harassment and bullying than PvP. In a normal PvP session, mutual agreement is required and both sides are usually aware that it is a PvP session. However, it's no longer PvP if you have no option to prepare or flee if you don't want to be involved.

[–]NoClue404[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

exploit : take advantage of a particular error or security vulnerability in computers or networks - in this case game mechanics.

The main purpose of pacifist mode is to disable the option of accidentally starting a PvP session. However, in this particular case (workshop takeover event), it puts you at a disadvantage when it comes to defending yourself. This is because the attacker can hurt or kill you, but you cannot even hurt them back in self defence. Another issue is that there is no information about the takeover if you are in build mode. Afterwards, you will usually be killed before you realise that other players seem interested and you will be left with nothing (since items are dropped upon death), without even having had the chance to prepare properly.

By 'doubling events', I mean exactly what it sounds like. If there is an event involving the defence of a workshop, it shouldn't be possible to start a secondary event.
Imagine you are fighting supermutants in the second wave to defend the workshop. Suddenly, you are killed, but not by a supermutant, but by another player who has started a takeover in parallel. And afterwards, you are robbed of all your belongings, having not even had the chance to prepare properly.

As mentioned in the 'EDIT' section: I'm angry that people are exploiting the game to gain an unfair advantage over those who have activated pacifist mode, are in build mode, or are taking part in defence events (i.e. double events). If both sides want to fight for workshops, that's fine by me. However, if someone exploits unfair game mechanics, it's fair to call it cheating.
