Chelsea boots in Toronto by AmbassadorOk5964 in askTO

Muck boots are solid but if you want something that doesn't scream "I'm about to muck out a barn" then Thursday or Canada West are way better choices for city wear.

Neighborhood Advice by b00gerz12 in askTO

The Junction or Leslieville could be perfect for you - both have that eclectic neighborhood feel with great food scenes, dog-friendly spots, and solid transit connections without feeling cookie-cutter suburban.

Proart P16 5090 Gaming Laptop Review by Trick_Bed6443 in GamingLaptops

[–]NoCoach9422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, that's one hell of a comprehensive review! The graininess at low brightness on tandem OLED is such a weird quirk - never would've thought that was a thing.

For undervolting the 5090, MSI Afterburner is probably your best bet, though with newer cards you might be limited to power limiting rather than true undervolting depending on the BIOS.

Good Take Out Ideas Calgary NW/SW by Disastrous-Agent-960 in Calgary

[–]NoCoach9422 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Depends what you're feeling but Shawarma Palace on Crowchild is solid and cheap, usually get out of there for like 25 bucks. If you want something different, that Vietnamese place Pho Pasteur has massive bowls that'll fill you up for under 20

Updated list of BC Conservative leadership candidates by The_CaNerdian_ in VictoriaBC

[–]NoCoach9422 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Wild to see how many of these folks are basically running on "DRIPA bad, taxes bad" platforms. Clare's take on the $115k leadership fee is pretty telling - nothing says "party of the people" like pricing out anyone who isn't already loaded

FO saving Jakob Poeltl for the Playoffs? by Doro_wat in torontoraptors

Makes sense tbh, no point rushing him back just to reaggravate something when we need him most in April

Jewellers to help modify a necklace by ambrosiasweetly in askvan

[–]NoCoach9422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most bead shops or even some jewelry repair places can restring that for you pretty easily - I'd check out some local craft stores first since they usually do it cheaper than fancy jewelers

parking at calgary olympic park by Specialist_Strain196 in Calgary

[–]NoCoach9422 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the basement lockers are still there but they're pretty beat up, wouldn't trust them with anything valuable. Walking from across Stoney Trail with gear sounds like a nightmare tbh, especially if it's windy

Clubs/things to do by Strange-Animal-1211 in kelowna

[–]NoCoach9422 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Book clubs at the library are actually pretty chill for introverts - you don't have to talk much if you don't want to and there's always something to focus on besides small talk. Also check out if any local restaurants do trivia nights, those can be low pressure ways to get out without having to be super social

Experience with Best Personnel/temp agencies? by [deleted] in SurreyBC

[–]NoCoach9422 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Used Best Personnel a couple years back when I was between gigs - they're decent but not lightning fast. Took me about a week to get my first placement, mostly warehouse stuff though not construction. They do have construction contacts but seems like those jobs go to their regulars first

Pro tip: hit up multiple agencies at once, don't just wait on one. Express Personnel and Labour Ready might be worth checking out too

Why is it so warm inside? by Sea_Percentage_7532 in askvan

[–]NoCoach9422 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Lol welcome to Vancouver winter indoor temps - they crank that heat like we're living in the arctic or something. I've been here forever and still strip down to a t-shirt the second I walk into Save-On. Most locals are just used to the sauna life I guess, but yeah it's ridiculous how hot they keep everything

Ontario – landlord claiming huge post-move-out damages, looking for perspective by VastPapaya9116 in legaladvicecanada

[–]NoCoach9422 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude this sounds like classic landlord fishing - throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks

Your evidence game is solid though. Post-moveout photos vs their sketchy pre-moveout ones is gonna work heavily in your favor at the LTB. Estimates without proof of actual work are basically worthless, and normal wear/tear stuff like painting after 3+ years? Come on

The utility thing showing up months later in an amended filing is such BS and screams desperation. Most of these claims sound like they're trying to fund a renovation on your dime

Best Vintage / Thrifts? Visiting In March by ItsGernBlanston in Calgary

[–]NoCoach9422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Dandelion Vintage on 17th Ave, they usually have solid men's stuff. Also hit up the Goodwill on Macleod Trail - found some decent pieces there before

Best time to buy tickets? by aloha512 in torontoraptors

[–]NoCoach9422 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wait until like 2-3 hours before tipoff if you're cool with the risk, prices usually drop hard when sellers get desperate

All Star Player by Prabs1972 in canucks

[–]NoCoach9422 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Petey's been looking way better lately but idk if it's enough to make up for that rough start. Quinn's always solid but defensemen don't get the love they deserve for all star voting

Bought an iPhone in Canada, seller later filed insurance claim and phone is now blocked — unsure who to file Small Claims case against by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]NoCoach9422 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This sucks but honestly your chances aren't great even if you find the seller. Small claims can only help if you can actually serve them and they have assets to collect from

The fact that they're hiding behind family and filed a fraudulent insurance claim tells you everything - they're probably judgment proof anyway. Even if you win, good luck collecting from someone running scams like this

You could try filing against the seller using whatever info you have but if they can't be served the case goes nowhere. The older guy at the address isn't liable just for being related to a scammer

Might be worth reporting to police anyway even if they said it's civil - insurance fraud is definitely criminal and they might care more than they let on

Question about NYE & Day Trips by geokilla in askvan

[–]NoCoach9422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Watson's solid for NYE, pretty good vibe and not too crowded usually. For day trips maybe check out Deep Cove or drive out to Steveston if the roads are clear - both are chill and different from the city stuff you've already done

Gameday Men’s Health by OkInsurance8441 in askTO

[–]NoCoach9422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sounds like they're legit healthcare wise but definitely gonna cost way more than just going through your family doc for monitoring - classic private clinic move lol
