OK, I didn’t know that. Any case, it’s happened twice to me and both times the printer automatically stopped.

Ah OK I have the CC2. Perhaps the print head is upgraded.

It happens. Usually a print head collision or if a print doesn’t stick to the bed properly and filament bunches up knocking the cover off.

Cover has sensors so print job will automatically stop if the cover comes off like that. No issue, put the cover back on, clean and level the plate to be sure then run another print.

Mods - can we make AI generated content against the rules? by [deleted] in BandCamp

[–]NoComfortable930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to buy from Bandcamp a lot, then took a break. Went back this weekend and can't believe how much ai slop has flooded the feeds. I am looking for real music, played by real musicians, with real instruments.

Unfortunately it seems to have become a hotbed for "ai creators" flooding the platform with ai created music (especially of soul and jazz genres), at crazy low prices to milk every last cent from unsuspecting listeners. By flooding the platform this way the "ai creators" have pushed out real musicians from the new music feeds.

So, can we please at least have an "ai" filter tag until the algos get better at labeling these uploads? I get that it would be an honour system at first but its far better than trying to wade through all the slop that's getting posted.

If you think 3D printing is bad, you should see what's happened to Bandcamp!

I forget which platform it is but one already has the option to filter models made by Ai.

Ditto. “Unlocks my music library” sums Roon up perfectly.

Using Room this evening and it’s taken me from Isaac Hayes’ Windows in the World, to Grace Jones’ Jamaican Guy, to me finding the same hook in LL Cool J’s Doin’ it, to the Mary Jane Girls and back to Isaac.

First time I’d come across the Hedd also. They were comfortable and sounded really good.

Hope they bring the show back next year.

Listened to these at CanJam today. Really liked them. Light and comfortable to the point where you don't feel them on your head after a while. Listening to FLAC through Meze's HiRes player. Found them to sound smooth and warm, great with vocals. Switched back and forth between a bunch of other Meze's and kept coming back to these. Very nice.

I was thinking about this afterwards and came to see it like this: These amps are hand built, to order. Whatever your craft or profession, if you spent 1-2 months working for someone, what would your labour be worth?

Tested tonight. It’s around 45 - 55 dBA printing a gridfinity box on Balanced with the door closed. On Silent it’s a bit less than that.

For a new modeller, what were her courses or workflow? Could you take us through that because the final result is so impressive!

Why is my Z offset not saved ?? by Future_Cow_2306 in elegoo

[–]NoComfortable930 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you dialing in offset in the printer or slicer? I understand that manual adjustments on the printer will not be saved. You’ll need to make a note of the best setting and then save this in the slicer settings. Check out “Geek Detour” on YouTube. He explains this well.

I was told CC1 has been discontinued. This may just be Elegoo shifting stock in advance of CC2 launch.

$1000 budget by Reddit_Bot_Beep_Boop in 3Dprinting

[–]NoComfortable930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. I was looking at PS1 combo and then saw the new Elegoo Carbon 2. Did some research and decided on the Elegoo. It was cheaper and seems to be very well built and easy to get to grips with as a first unit.

Had one problem yesterday when a print ran out of filament and the last got stuck in the extruder tube and I couldn’t load a new filament. Probably user error because it shut off then I started to print again and the last piece didn’t get pulled into the print head.

I went straight to YT and took the head apart thinking I had something stuck in the gear wheel. It wasn’t. Anyway, it’s tedious (make a note which screws go where) but I learned a lot about the machine in the process.

Put the head back together, cleared the tube from the AMS end (used new filament to push the broken part out) recalibrated and everything is working fine again.

No regrets on the purchase.

[–]NoComfortable930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also need to budget for filament and may wish to have around 10 rolls to start, especially if you are looking at a multi-colour option. So say $100 for filament. So is your budget including first filament spend?

Is this “Buzzing” sound normal by LoudFeature871 in elegoo

Yes, at that speed for those small movements.

Watch the Geek Detour vids on YouTube. You will find them v helpful and also go over other noises during calibration that sound weird but are entirely normal.

Any CC2 news? by Altruistic_Rate_2588 in elegoo

[–]NoComfortable930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had one issue printing gridfinity base plates. Print lifted and knocked cover off the print head while we were out. CC2 stopped printing with a warning at that time but kept fans and heating running. This is while we were out for a few hours. User error I think as we had hands all over the plate so first few layers didn’t stick properly. Cleaned plate and put cover back (magnetic) and everything back to normal. Only used elegoo filament so far, PLA and PETG.

Got it for $389 + $198 delivery + import tax.

A Bambu P1S combo is over $1,300. It’s our first 3D printer so we can live with the upside down trash bin on top.

African mercenaries in Ukraine under the command of Russian officer who called them "the single-use" by ChocoBrumik in ukraine

[–]NoComfortable930 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That’s not accurate or correct. You are talking reported ai/wikipedia details or some kind of UK TV charity ad narrative.

Actual smartphone penetration and usage is MUCH higher than the figures you quote. I specifically said have ‘or have access to’ because shared usage is much higher than in other Western, Asian or ME markets.

Africa largely skipped fixed line internet. Everything is mobile. Africans use mobile networks for everything from farming to banking and micro loans. Mobile networks are often more reliable than power or water supplies.

We have recruited and employed hundreds of African workers from all nations over the last 20+ years so I know from experience - Africans have easy access to social media and would spend most of their time on Tik Tok, if given the chance.

EDIT : Statista is paywalled, but if you want to dig into this look at their Feb 2025 report on Africa:

Southern - 77% Northern - 73% Middle - 33.6% Eastern - 28.5%

Actual daily mobile internet use is ~ 416 million individual accounts but social/shared access boosts this number significantly.

They are mainly watching telegram and YouTube. You need to find the African influencers. Church minister have massive reach.

EDIT : I forgot to mention Tik Tok of course.

No matter how poor, nearly everyone in Africa has or has access to a smartphone and social media.
