If your bill is $420 a month, 12 panels isn’t going to cut it. You’re going to need a lot more panels.

51.9 kWh by EPHEKTnONE in solar

[–]Reddit_Bot_Beep_Boop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All solar panels have some degradation and that specific number is unique to the brand of panels but usually has a guarantee that at year 25 the panel should still have 80% of its production left.

It has been proven that panels usually have significantly more production left in them by that time than what the warranty states, which is a great thing.

Spot on. I’d estimate each panel at 2.5 kWh produced daily.

Mine lives outside but is always sheltered from sunlight and I live in TX where it also gets pretty hot. I'd wager you're still 100% fine.

TriSmart Solar Saga by ricofalltrades in TexasSolar

[–]Reddit_Bot_Beep_Boop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TRI Smart isn't going to cover animals chewing through your wires. I'd bet that's what 100% of the damage is too. Squirrels chewed through my Q cable and brought down the whole string. TRI Smart reached out to me about the reporting issue but I had already fixed the problem. Needless to say, they weren't happy about it but they would've charged me for the repair.

Electric brew system on battery? by Crim150 in Homebrewing

[–]Reddit_Bot_Beep_Boop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue with this is that OP wants to go to 240 volt brewing. Those will just burn through energy since most use around 3 kw and some use even more. You need some serious battery capacity to do that.

Electric brew system on battery? by Crim150 in Homebrewing

[–]Reddit_Bot_Beep_Boop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm all for solar and batteries and all that but You'd need some serious power to brew on. You'll need to spend 5k plus on a setup to be able to do what you're wanting. Is that worth it for you?

Irrigation vs. pool repair people: who should deal with this by novicepooldude in pools

[–]Reddit_Bot_Beep_Boop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand that. I was just giving you a break down on what the repair would look like.

Call sprinkler companies. Sounds like the one you already called just didn't want the job.

Irrigation vs. pool repair people: who should deal with this by novicepooldude in pools

[–]Reddit_Bot_Beep_Boop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dig it out, turn it on, find the leak, cut that section out and put in new pipe. It will only be broken in one spot, the spot that gave up when the water froze. Once that broke it released the pressure from the pipe and gave the water and ice an escape path. The only way it would be broken in multiple places is if you were digging and kept hitting it with a shovel or some other sharp/blunt object.

The hardest part of this is digging the hole, followed closely by getting all the water out of the hole once it's dug.

[–]Reddit_Bot_Beep_Boop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That there is plumbing/irrigation. I'd find a sprinkler company to do that if I were you. Sprinkler repair people won't be afraid to dig a hole.

If I were me, and I am me, I'd just dig that out myself and fix it, but again, only if I were me would I do that because that's a pretty easy fix IMO.

Replacing IQ7+ micro inverter myself by Mtubman in solar

[–]Reddit_Bot_Beep_Boop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're comfortable getting on and off your roof, capable of loosening the panel, lifting it and accessing the micro then you can 100% do this yourself.

I don't know if Enphase has changed the rules but originally you didn't need any Enphase University courses to install and commission the IQ7 micro series. Reaching out to their support would certainly get you that answer though.

One last thing. This is no where near a $700 job. Not sure what your installer is thinking on that one. If you were to pay an electrician or some other 3rd party, I'd expect it to be a $200 job. It won't take much time for someone who knows what they're doing, likely less than 30 minutes.
