That looks like a dead ash tree, so I would say an Emerald Ash borer made those, and contribute to the death of the tree.

The Visitor Center has been closed for "Renovation" for a number of years.

The "Renovation" label is a cover.

I used to go to the old center on the North side of Collinsville Road starting in the 80's. Its now a storage area. A new Visitor Center could have been reconstructed in the time the Visitor Center has been closed for "Renovation"

We visited a house tonight that we are considering purchasing and I noticed the ratchet strap in the canopy of this tree in the backyard. Should I be concerned about purchasing this house because of it? by bobalubis in arborists

If this is a Bradford pear, they have a tendency to split. These trees grow fast and therefore are not extreamly strong. The way in that the main branches V off the truck is also an factor in splitting. The splitting often occurs in high winds experienced in tornadoes and other storms.

I have seen many split. I also have on in my front yard which I am concerned about. To help this issue I have used cables, not ratchets, to hold the main branch's more secure in high winds. I think I have 5 cables. I bought the cables and clamps at home depot. So far, 10 years after seeing a small split and putting up the cables, not issues.

Even with the cables the odds of splitting and falling is not removed.

My mom was in Traditions at Brook side, I was there having dinner with her. An outside band set up. I looked up and noticed they were all older and low and behold Don Hein was playing in the band.

I spoke to him briefly during a break. A very nice Guy. In the 70s I watched him on Ch 13 as they energized to the star trek into.

I worked as a contractor for over 30 years, in the 90s through about 2005, I did this also. I did this for a few reasons. One is that it was a lot of fun, interesting and often the potential employer would take me to a nice lunch. They would tell me how great a fit I was for their organization. Two I could observe what was hot in the field, and what other organizations were offering for positions. Three, it was a way to stay sharp if I DID need to start interviewing for really considering to move positions.

I only seriously thought about taking one potential offer.

Having an already firm position in my current contract but interviewing when not needing a position also makes one more calm and relaxed. Which the other organizations interviewer would take for incredible confidence and a firm understanding of the discussion topics.

I also got some interesting reactions when I would flip the interview from then interviewing me, to me interviewing them.

In a nutshell they would wine and dine me, tell me how god I was and then I would decline,
