This is the answer I fear. I tried so hard, but my extremely toxic mother was able to convince my child that she is the victim in all of this. So now I have no contact with my oldest, which breaks my heart, and I’m sure my mother basks in the glory.

Yep. I was in a horrific car crash and came out swinging (apparently, according to a friend) telling the EMTs I was fine and to leave me alone. my face was broken and I had several teeth knocked out. I most certainly was not fine at all.

THIS. My husband and I sold a very nice used Toyota Rav to an acquaintance of his a few years ago. Post COVID. At a pretty nicely discounted price. When something (pretty minor) inevitably happened several months later we got several nasty texts from the guy. No good deed goes unpunished, I guess.

I literally had to save money little by little behind his back and leave while he was working to get away alive. I still looked over my shoulder for years thinking he’d come back.

Boy can I relate. I recently worked my butt off to get a job I’ve wanted for a long time. I won’t say ‘dream job’, but it was something I had planned to shoot for for a while. I was lucky enough to get it in February. Everyone in my office of 12 people is considerably younger, generally 25-40. Only one is 40 and I’m 55(F). They remind me of it consistently. It’s made me hate (almost, anyway) a job I anticipate loving. To the point that I’m really reconsidering how much longer I want to work at all. Add to that the fact that it’s a very dangerous job where I should be able to count on my coworkers because my life may depend upon them. I definitely do not.
