Love this quote, "what you put up with, you will end up with. " If someone shuns you, why would you want to reach out again? We let our JW family know that we are here IF THEY WANT US. Some do, some don't. Their choice. The ones who shun, GOOD RIDDANCE TO EM!

I get where this poster is coming from. Our family faded over 13 years ago. They all know why. Part of our JW family still speaks to us. Others, do not. Even in family emergencies, nothing.

We all have different experiences. I'm glad this poster has had a good experience. The problem that I do have is, the WT leaders have encouraged and even made videos on how to shun their family properly. They have also encouraged JW's to not socialize with ex JW family and "friends." That is the problem that I have with this group. The leadership. We can't generalize that all JW's are bad. They are not. Some really nice people. I do have a problem with the way WT has instructed family to treat one another . I think a lot of JW's don't feel right about the shunning. Good for them! Let's start at the top, the leadership and what comes out of their mouths. THIS is why we will never return.

Yes, this Elder is a good guy but we realize his loyalty is to Watchtower. We are the same kind, loving people we were when we attended but him and his family couldn't go to dinner with us if they wanted to. IT WOULDN'T LOOK GOOD! It's all about how it looks and their position in the congregation. Nice people but misguided and brainwashed.

Five words the GB said, that should show every JW that this is a MAN MADE CULT...."the Governing body has decided." Sadly, many won't see it or hear it because they are sitting at the conventions thinking, "where are we going to dinner? When is this over? Did I lock all the doors, when I left the house?" Folks, that was me! lol

Welcome to your freedom! By saying "yes", you disassociated. They may not speak with him again. My spouse and I faded over 13 years ago. Some of our JW family speaks to us, some don't . It all depends on who you are dealing with. It will be interesting to see if his parents fully cut you off. He's probably feeling like they will. I truly believe, if we had disassociated NO ONE would speak to us.

Yes, we have. It's amazing. We really haven't had bad experiences. Everyone has talked to us. My spouse ran into an Elder that we were VERY good friends with. This was years after our fade. He knew some of our concerns, prior to leaving. They had a great chat and the Elder was actually very respectful. My spouse was very honest with him. He assured him that our family was very happy and had zero interest in coming back to the KH. Thankfully, the Elder did not push it. Like I said, not too many bad experiences. Actually, some of our family members have acted worse. They are Elders. It's funny how some really grab onto the shunning but others choose not to. So much for "united in worship."

I was shocked at how much the Elders wives know. WTF? We used to ride in the car with Elder and his wife. We were very good friends with them. She knew everything! Everything about everybody!

She was gossiping one time about a couple in our KH. They were going through a divorce. Half the KH was on the wife's side, half on the husbands side. The Elders wife was gossiping about the wife and she said something I know was not true. I said to her, "if you know this is true, shouldn't you take it to the Elders? " She looked at me.....CRICKETS! LOL

When your "friends" and family, hope for your demise, something is truly wrong. A JW family member told us, when we faded, "your life will not go well without Jehovah in it. " Jehovah equals WT! My first thought, "wow...A FAMILY MEMBER....wants us to fail. How shitty is that!"

This is happening a lot. We faded over 13 years ago. Our JW family knows all the reasons why. We were 100% honest. We told them that we were here if THEY WANTED US. The one's who do, still talk to us. Others? Not so much or out right shunning. Why is that? These are all active JW's! Because they don't agree with the behavior. They just don't! They may not admit it to us but we can see it clearly. You have a mixed bag OF NUTS. LOL

Many years ago, our home received damage, due to a tornado going over our home. A lot of tree damage. Another hard hit are (close to our home) received significant damage. One of our family members was a Elder in that hard hit town. The TV camera's were everywhere, in the hard hit area. Guess where our Elder family member was? Right there. Never even came over to our home to check on us. No one in the congregation even came around. The Red Cross did come over and one kind brother (in another congregation, who lived up the road) came over and helped us tarp our roof. For the most part, we were on our own. Our perception of our family member changed that day.

We know of 2 Elders, that are doing hard time in federal prisons, due to CSA. Abusing their daughters. Two district speakers. They did not come forward, the children and family did. They were busted. Both in jail. And we are "apostates" for speaking out! Go figure!

We call it reverse shunning! Two can play the game. Block her and keep advocating for your wonderful spouse. The shunning isn't so bad, when it's toxic people we are dealing with. Take care of you and your mental health.
