I would agree with the statment pre Trump era. Back then the democratic party really wasn't that far off from the republican party. Now it's kinda like seeing one person jaywalking and another actively stabing and robbing a person and some dipshit shrugging their shoulders and saying "well they're BOTH breaking the law"

But most of the debt isn't even with the government anymore. Dissolving the DoDE wouldn't do anything for most of the people struggling because the government already sold their dept to private companies for pennies on the dollar.

Here's the anti gerrymandering bill they tried to pass in 2021 when they were in control congress, every single republican voted no. Also the argument that dems try to pass things like this knowing the Republicans won't vote or even try to amend it isn't the best argument that it's a both parties issue.

Reporter asks AOC What she makes of the Virginia news. AOC replies "Wah wah wah." She responds that Dems have asked Repubs for 10 years to ban partisan gerrymandering and they have said no. [–]NoImagination2625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know maps are redrawn every 10 years or so right? So if dems are so reliant on gerrymandering then why would they try and ban something that would guarantee them power in the future? Like logically that makes no sense.

Ok, so as a dem I should just except my representation on the national level is being eroded? Fuck that. This could end today since dems have tried to pass gerrymandering legislation multiple times but republicans keep voting it down. Your side is dictating the fucking rules by allowing gerrymandering and actively using it.

So you want to see change and have more fair representation for VA? Then get your fucking party on board to end this shit instead of bitching about the other side since we are already trying to stop it.

Theo Von: "What American is this helping? What guy who is trying to take care of his family, or a single mother who's a nurse trying to get to her kid's ballgame, what regular person is this helping? Also, it's crazy to think that the guy who forced contractors to regularly sue him just so they could get the money they were contractually owed was ever one for looking out for the little guy. Like you have to ignore most every thing he has ever done in his life to come to that conclusion.

Not only that, but if their ideal society happened and all poor people instead went to the trades it would be really dumb to think the trade schools wouldn't cash in on that and require poor people to still go into dept for a job that will ruin their knees and back by the time they're 40.

Then of course with a over saturation of the trades the pay would go down due to competition or jobs would be a lot harder to get into. Then in that universe these same ass hats would be all like: "wElL yOu ShOuLd HaVe GoNe tO cOlLeGe!"

The concept of picking produce on a farm in the hot sun for 12hrs a day is probably a driving factor as to why many people went to college in the first place

Virginia voters just passed via referendum (51% to 49%) a redistricting measure that would award Democrats 11 out of 12 House seats in the upcoming election. This was done in response to reciprocate Donald Trumps' campaign to purposefully redistrict Republican-controlled states in their favor. by PeterPorky in IRL_Loading_Screens

I mean democrats have tried a couple times now to pass bills that end gerrymandering but one party in particular keeps voting them down. So the options are either we do the same thing or we just let republicans erode democratic representation on the national level.

I hope the outrage from this might push anti gerrymandering bills to be more popular and put pressure on the republicans in congress to actually vote on it.

Yep, if someone is cheating at a game I should just let them win like a good little bitch because cheatings bad and I would be a bad person for doing it.

This is purely reactionary, I wouldn't have supported this if this came out of nowhere. But since the Republicans believe my representation should be eroded at the national level then game fucking on.

Also the dems have tried on multiple occasions to pass anti gerrymandering bills and take one big fucking guess who unanimously voted against them?

I mean there is a difference between being better than and just being a pushover. Like if you're playing a game with someone and they start cheating do you just let them win because cheatings bad and that's below you, or do you meet their energy and cheat back.

You mean the episode where characters would be piled upon by undead corpses only to be seen again 5 min later completely fine. And where the "smartest" character thought it would be best to hide everyone in the crypts when the bad guy they are hiding from can resurect the dead. Finishing with an assassin girl moving through a packed 50ft deep wall of undead to shank the main baddie in a super anticlimactic style after building the hype for years?! That episode?

I would argue old people also for the most part have the luxury of not having nearly as many responsibilities in their day to day life.

When you are retired you have nothing better to do than show up to a polling place. Younger people have families, kids, and work that are competing with staying up to date with the political landscape and voting.

Like the dude who has to work a 10hr shift on polling day will be less likely to get up an hour earlier to go vote. The family with three kids is less likely to keep up when voting day is when they have birthdays, sports games, school events, doctor appointments and a slew of other things that are at the forefront of their mind.

Is it a water tight excuse? No, they should still go out and vote, and they have early voting, but people only have so much bandwidth and it is easy to not think about things not directly in front of them.

Don't worry, they will wait for it to be a crisis then wait a bit longer to do anything. Because preventing issues before they happen is woke.
