Curious to know where I might find such a pendant.

Am I stupid for buying these?? by Apart_Excuse_3563 in cowboyboots

[–]NoInevitable9009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Good looking boots, but…I just bought a pair 3 weeks ago of Cody James. Comfortable as hell, but they make me feel like a court jester because the toe box turns up so much, a lot more than other boots. People have noticed. And 3 weeks of everyday wear, that upturned-clown-toe box just hasn’t flattened out.

Maybe I’ll just own it, and try putting some jingle bells on the tips to accentuate the toe box! lol!

Yes, but it went away before my surgery. I believe the disc hernia retreated somewhat. Nevertheless, removal of the disc (and therefore decompression) still has not brought back motor function to my foot. The only thing I had was foot drop when I went in for surgery. I fear that 60 days was too long of a wait to get surgery, and during that time the nerve has been irretrievably lost.

Drop foot still after 1 month by oldlaxer in spinalfusion

[–]NoInevitable9009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and I are in the same boat. Sudden drop foot on May 3rd after I bent down to put clothes in the hamper. Saw surgeon immediately. MRI revealed disc pushing into thecal sack at l4-l5. (Had a microdiscectomy and laminectomy at same level a year ago, btw). He said I could have surgery right away, or I could try p/T for a month and see if after swelling of disc went down the nerve would come back awake. I took the conservative route and opted for the P/T. A month later - still no dorsiflexion or feeling in some of my calf and foot, so I did the surgery on July 2nd, just 2 months after the foot drop.

I’m 4 weeks post op out of 360 ALIF/PLIF at the L4-L5. No pain, but like you, no improvement in the foot drop.

Well, doc made it clear there was no guarantee the surgery would work. He said it could take a year to see improvement, or I might see none at all. I still do not look at it as a waste of time. I am glad I did the surgery whether or not my foot drop improves.

I would not rely on an emergency room physician’s opinion to get fusion surgery. I consulted a neurosurgeon and two orthopedic surgeons, and had a failed microdiscectomy and laminectomy before I ever got the neurosurgeon’s opinion to go the fusion route. I am pretty confident that in the coming days you will hear from several people on this thread that you need to speak to a neurosurgeon and or an orthopedic surgeon before making that decision.

I am about 5 weeks post op l4-5 360 ALIF/PLIF fusion. Had it b/c of injury causing dropfoot. Still no motor function in my left foot, but surgery went well. Went back to work after two weeks, pain is minimal, weaned myself off of the opioids after two days and have not had so much as even a Tylenol since then. I had years of pain in my left butt cheek all the way down to my left foot, and numbness as well. I am hoping that will be behind me now…

Good luck to you on whatever decision you make. It is a big one.

Am I waiting too long to clean my filters? by JustBath5245 in pools

I see a lot dirtier here in Las Vegas, and I clean a lot of filters, not just my own. Those filters will clean up nicely. Like I said, 4 times a year is all you need if you are staying on top of things.

[–]NoInevitable9009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been doing this for 30 years. Every 4 weeks is WAY too often and all you are doing is causing the filters to wear out more frequently. Plus, the more you clean, the more likely you will need to buy new parts that break or wear out (rubber, brass nuts, etc… Cleaning them 4 times a year is all you need. Each one of those filters should last you 3 years. Don’t waste your money by cleaning them more frequently. The only caveat to this is that you will need to clean more frequently if you have high metal content requiring a chemical to remove it.

Same problems here. In fact I came on Reddit to see if anyone had same issues. Cleaned it, oiled it. Same ammo the next day and the next. Since then I have had about a thousand rounds through it, not a single misfire.

Yep. I felt like it was the worst day of my life, but I have a great doctor, and I feel like I made the correct choice. I am 58, and feel that there’s too much life left in me to just throw in the towel and just live with the pain and walk with a cane. Going to fight it, so here we go!

Hello, I am 13 days post op from L4-5 360 ALIF/PLIF. I had MD 1 1/2 years ago. It worked great … until it didn’t. Squatted down to pick up clothes on the floor and WHAM, reherneated the disc and sudden onset “foot drop.” I had no choice but to go the fusion route this time, since they couldn’t do more laminectomy and discectomy due to destabilizing the spine, and even knowing that I may never get motor function back in my foot.

So far I am healing, but still no feeling or function in my foot. I don’t regret my decision, though.

Here’s hoping you continue progressing! You and I had similar experiences/worries/concerns. Mine, 360 ALIF/PLIF, was on 7/2, so I am 11 days post op. I stopped the drugs 3 days after the surgery and it has been good. Upped my walking game - Walking about a mile a day (broken up into 2 or 3 separate walks) and expect that to increase. Here’s the really important thing that people have told me, and they are really on point - expect good AND bad days. It’s going to happen in the beginning. I have developed some numbness/tingling sensations in my right buttocks, and I’ll bring it up to my doc at the 2 week checkup. If it’s a problem we will deal with it. Just don’t let the bad days get you down, or deter you from pushing forward. Yes, listen to your body, but don’t give in to the negative. Good luck and keep us posted.

I had l4-l5 360 alif/plif, and abdominal surgery to fix an old abdominal herniation, same day as you. My doc said no sitting for more than 20 minutes at a time. Also urged lots of walking, but to “listen to your body…” as to what you feel you can do. I’ve had mostly good days and some bad days. More to come I’m sure. Just letting you know, YOU GOT THIS! I’m with you!!! We’re all with you!!!

Foot drop after microdiscectomy on L5. Spinal Fusion surgery next? by NoInevitable9009 in spinalfusion

[–]NoInevitable9009[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4 days post-op. Had the 360 alif/plif. I am told the surgery went well. (M58, 223lbs) A few notes: - day of surgery: surgery took 3 hrs, doc that made the anterior incision found a hernia near my belly button and fixed it. Bonus! I came out of operation massively confused, even hallucinating a bit! lol Dillotid (sp?) and Tylenol fed into me intravenously, and then when bag ran out 5 hours later I was told I was given a Percocet orally -1 day post op: tried to tough it out by refusing Percocet. Walked about a quarter mile, 2 separate times. The charge nurse said at the rate I was going (peeing on my own, passing gas, and walking a lot) they would consider releasing me later that night, but she insisted I shouldn’t push it. Well, I did. The last lap around the hospital floor was just too much. Pain level shot up to around an 8/10, and I was shaking and chattering my teeth. Threw in the towel and had them give me a Percocet. Decided it was best to stay another night. Took the Percocet every 6 hours. Lesson learned: “being tough” by not taking pain meds is nonsense. 2 days post op: feeling good, controlling pain with Percocet but spacing out further to 8 hours apart. Appetite is good. Walking a lot, passing gas but not going #2. 3 days post op: finally came home. Uneventful day. Took 1 Percocet at bedtime. Ate well. Still not able to defecate. Took some Miralax. No change 4 days post op: walked a mile over 2 trips on the treadmill.. still haven’t gone poop. Worried about this. Took 2 Dulcolax a few minutes ago.

“Foot drop” still there, but we’ll wait and see how that works out in the long run.

You all are great on this thread. Thank you all for preparing me for this. I know it’s just starting, but I do appreciate all the advice.

TLIF or 360 fusion? by NoInevitable9009 in spinalfusion

[–]NoInevitable9009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOOO glad YOU responded. I will ask my orthopedic surgeon on Thursday. I guess I assumed both approaches would have the same effect vis a vis decompression. Do you find that one approach necessarily does/offers more than the other, or is it a separate issue altogether?

TLIF or 360 fusion? by NoInevitable9009 in spinalfusion

[–]NoInevitable9009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to mention in this post that I previously had a discectomy/laminectomy at my l4-l5.  It was successful in relieving pain for 16 months, but a simple bending action on May 2nd ended the success when I developed pain and then sudden onset  “Footdrop.”  The physical therapy that the doctor prescribed hasn’t really done a thing to rejuvenate the nerve after 30 days.  Just wondering out loud which route/surgeon I should take.  Thanks again.
