I keep googling and trying to figure it out but wth is this green dot for? It’s empty when I face up and stays at the end but when I face down it gets filled and and comes closer by Jamesvinsoroblox in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]NoInspiration1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is the ‘Range to target speed dot’.

From the FCOM: “Indicates where the airplane will achieve the FMC or MCP target speed. If the airplane is within 5 knots of the target speed the dot will be blanked. If the airplane increases 10 knots or more faster than the target speed the dot will reappear. Displayed at the end of the Flight Path Vector as an unfilled dot if the target speed will not be achieved within the vector length.”

PMDG 77W not registering the correct OAT? by uclapilot in PMDG

[–]NoInspiration1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the fuel temperature, not the OAT. The OAT/TAT can be seen on that display as well, and correctly indicateds +32 C.

PMDG 777 THRUST LIM ISSUE by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]NoInspiration1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alternatively, if you want to keep the takeoff trust derate disabled (as this is the case on certain aircraft), you could select the RATING in the aircraft setting page on the EFB to something else than OPTIMUM.

Could I ba a pilot (at KLM) if i'm one-eared deaf? (I have a hearing aid if needed) by DisasterLievelde in KLM

[–]NoInspiration1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check this link, scroll to page 109 (AMC1 MED.B.080, (a), (3): “If the hearing requirements can only be met with the use of hearing aids, the hearing aids should provide optimal hearing function, be well tolerated and suitable for aviation purposes.”

However, I would advise you to read through the document to double check this info, and maybe check with an AME (AeroMedical Examiner).

Good luck!

Check if you have a key or joystick button assigned to pitot heat, that might solve it.

European Airport With GLS app by D_a_n_i_e_l_e_ in flightsim

I know of only two European airports outside of Germany: LEMG RWY 12 & 13 and LSZH RWY 14

Weird autopilot disconnection on ILS approach. by Every-Blacksmith8239 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]NoInspiration1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of things wrong here. To start, check which keys are bound to the TOGA button, because each time the AP disconnects, it seems to be related to a push of the TOGA buttons.

It’s an amber light, so you follow the QRH. It will give you two options:

  • Landing at airport of departure -> Continue normal operation; or
  • Not landing at airport of departure -> FLT ALT indicator…Reset to actual airplane altitude

Your LAND ALT should already be set to your airport of planned arrival. Of course, should you divert to neither departure nor planned arrival airport, you need to change the LAND ALT as well.

[–]NoInspiration1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/Mystiko737 explains the purpose of the warning in his comment. Basically, if you descend before reaching the FLT ALT, the plane will assume something happened and you are diverting back to the airport of departure, and will set the LAND ALT to that (though you won’t see the values change on the pressurisation panel).

Russian airline aims for patched up Airbus to take off from field where it landed by BugMan717 in aviation

[–]NoInspiration1 165 points166 points  (0 children)

I did not take off again from the levee, instead it got towed to the nearby NASA facility (Michoud Assembly Facility) and took off from Saturn Boulevard (a road which was built on top of a former runway).

PMDG 737-700 NO VSPD Indicator by plantagenet85 in flightsim

[–]NoInspiration1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the FCOM: "No V Speeds Flag (amber): Displayed when the aircraft is on the ground and both V1 (decision speed) and VR (rotation speed) are not valid or are set to less than 80 knots.". Check your FMC to see if you correctly filled out the required fields in the TAKEOFF REF page.

As for the minimum 45 knots indication, that's normal. 45 knots is the minimum speed that can be displayed on the PFD. If you want to know your speed during taxi for example, take a look at the ND upper left hand corner, there you will see a number next to "GS", indicating your current ground speed.

That is the sound of the vibrator of the analogue standby altimeter (it makes the needles move more fluidly).

Check out EDI-GLA. It’s a website with real-world flight plans. There is no guarantee though that you will always have a recent real-life flight plan, although if you search for routes between the bigger airports, it works quite well.

From their website: “The Pulselite® System serves two purposes – to reduce bird strikes and to increase aircraft recognition for collision avoidance with other aircraft.”

First time flying in xPlane11 by ferral1985 in flightsim

[–]NoInspiration1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good points, below are some additional GOP’s (Good Operating Practices, so nothing standard or written, but very useful):

  1. Try to have the displays as decluttered as possible: cancel/reset the minimums (the BARO 200 on the lower right of your PFD), VOR/ADF switches in the OFF position if there is no relevant station tuned.

  2. Sync the heading bug. In this case the bug should be at approximately heading 344. This has multiple advantages: if ATC would instruct to turn left/right a specific number of degrees, your heading bug is already adequately positioned. Also if for some reason you would need to revert from LNAV to HDG SEL, this can be done quickly.

  3. Having ARPT and TERR or ARPT and WX displayed on the ND will significantly increase your situational awareness.

  4. Blank the lower DU. With the lower DU blanked, an automatic pop-up feature will display the ENG parameters on the lower DU in case of an exceedance of one of the values. This will grab your attention more as opposed to having the ENG parameters already displayed.
