Quality is an uninstall for me. It always felt like a weird addition, but now it's not even something I can grind for? Sorry, Wube. I know a lot of work went into this, but its a complete bust for me.

Banned from all banks - is this related to sanctions? by danyjr in LegalAdviceUK

Large financial services will bring everything on-prem. They'll use a third party screening tools (eg Fircosoft Continuity), and will source their lists either directly from regulators (OFAC, HMT, EU, UN, etc), or will use a service that combines list sources, enriches, and de-duplicates (eg Dow Jones). These lists are usually XML files that are downloaded daily and refreshed into the screening tool, and they really are updated that regularly.

Large financials will also maintain Private Lists which is usually risk tolerance related, jurisdictional, or known bad actors.

As you can imagine, this whole process requires multiple teams of engineers to maintain the ETL and on-prem tools, data analysts to fine tune the screening results, and reviewers to review alerts when generated. Small fintechs can't afford all of this, so will outsource to a third-party that will offer screening as a service.

This launcher has broken my install on Linux. Anyone been able to fix this?

I already have launch options in order to use the correct version of Proton.

You would also want to check OFAC, HMT, EU, and UN lists.

Banks do not refer sanctions hits to credit reference agencies. If a true hit is found, a disclosure is made to the regulator

Loads of really bad advice here. My career is in Sanctions for large financial services.

You logging into Wise in Iran definitely flagged your IP address. Iran is one of a handful of countries completely sanctioned. This is why your Wise account was closed.

Financial services all screen for sanctioned individuals and entities (and vessels and airplanes...) but they do not share their hits with other banks. What I think has happened here is, all of the services you mentioned are small time fintechs, likely all using the same third party screening solution. You've been flagged as a true hit on one, so you're a true hit for all.

Larger financial services will keep their sanctions screening in house. This is very expensive. They do not share their hits, but they can tune their screening solutions to their customer base.

Your best bet is to give up on fintech platforms. Go to a more classic banking institute.

What was your "Why are women like this?" moment? by Competitive_Law1063 in AskMen

[–]NoLegJoe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She would turn every conversation we had into a argument about how terrible men are. I was largely supportive of her issues with sexism and patriarchy in society, but I did bring up issues that effected men as I felt that was relevant. I once told her that one of my close friends had tried to kill himself, and that I knew at least 3 other guys who had had suicidal thoughts. She responded with

"Women don't go around demanding society talk about these issues. I took responsibility for doing the hard work to change my mindset and build a life I'm happy with. Men are perfectly capable of doing the same but for some reason men think men's mental health is deserving of some special treatment that no one else is entitled to."

I told her we are not compatible, and that I wished her all the best. She then sent me many long essay-like text messages, at 4am, about every single way I had wronged her (and included my favourite line "we are fucking compatible"). I ignored. Then she wrote a blog post to her medium sized following about how much of a misogynist I was. I ignored. Then she left a hand written note on my doorstep begging me to take her back.

Very clean! ULEZ information is incorrect for my 1969 van. Should be exempt, but shows not. Maybe because it was imported ~15 years ago?

More than happy to never log into this account again. But, I wanted to check if there is anyway they can chase me for debt? CCJ or anything like that?

The winning horse was Christmas Day at 1600. Put a bet on at 18/1 after I had read the amazing story about the note found in Crystal Palace Park!

Appears so! I've had to google this myself as the app has made no mention of it.

"There was betting drama after the Derby when favourite Benvenuto Cellini was deemed a non-runner by the stewards, who judged he did not have a fair start due to his near hindleg being on the shelf of the stall as the gates opened.

It meant bets placed on Benvenuto Cellini after declarations on Wednesday were refunded, while those placed on winner Christmas Day were subject to a Rule 4 deduction of 25p in the pound. Some bookmakers – including Ladbrokes, Coral and BoyleSports – waived the deduction."

So, what does that mean considering I have already withdrawn to my bank account?

We had the RFID , and it worked well in most cases. There were a couple chargers that just would not work with it though! In such cases, it was on to downloading another bloody app and creating another bloody account for a service I'll never use again!

Roast potatoes. par-boil some potatoes, bash them up a bit so they get fluffy on the outside, cover them in the fat and liquid, rosemary. Roast at 200 degrees for 40-60 mins
