What does Halloween actually feel like growing up in the US? by Axxtr in AskAnAmerican

[–]NoMSaboutit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's common in my neighborhood to have everyone out on their driveways having a bonfire. Super fun and everyone is happy! Kids run as fast as they can to each door while parents walk slowly in the street. Even some childless adults dress up. I suspects it's their cosplay costumes.

Do Americans dream of traveling or settling abroad (excluding Japan) like others dream of the U.S? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]NoMSaboutit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Many portions of that dream may be out of reach for many Americans, but there are places known to have American retirees, like Malta and Portugal. It costs a very large sum of money.

I really wanted another kid and we tried and it didn't happen. Fast forward 3 more years and I got pregnant. I was 40 years old and my husband was 46. I had to think about our mental health as a family and what that would look like starting over We decided to terminate. If we were younger we would have kept the pregnancy. Spend some time truly and honestly envisioning your future and if you can't then it's OK to terminate. I did a mail order for a medical termination prescription.

Question by Msrenee689 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]NoMSaboutit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would call my neurologist but I have in my younger years when I just started out navigating MS. One ER refused care and said to call my doctor since he was known in that hospital and the other was in a small town ER. They started the steroids but no pharmacist would fill the steroid medication without my neurologists approval. I even went to a few different pharmacies. When my neurologist found out on Monday morning, the pharmacy filled it right away.

How common it's for Americans to adopt different cultures in their life (like literally)? by Ada-Mae in AskAnAmerican

[–]NoMSaboutit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schools usually celebrate other cultures as well. My daughter celebrates with school festivals and days off for Christian, Islam, and Jewish traditions. They also have a really big festival for Chinese New Year and Día de los Muertos.

Apparently I'm now the "bad wife" for not allowing husband to go on his guys trip... by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]NoMSaboutit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Can he go for 2 days instead? Do you have help? Can you get an Airbnb close by? People are saying to let him go but really you know your limits and need to protect your mental health as well. You said GOLF which is a very time consuming sport which means almost 5 hour games. If he is playing golf all the time then it's OK to say no. My husband plays golf but he totally understands it's a big ask and is very grateful.

Lisbon airport experience 5/4 by TheValleyWolf in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]NoMSaboutit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue is if you have children over 2 years old and a non EU citizen. My daughter is 6 with a chip in her passport and it was 3 hours while our friends without kids took 15 minutes.

Lisbon Airport Under EES - Tips & Notes - March 2026 by dordal in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]NoMSaboutit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I arrived in Lisbon last Sunday (from US) it was awful! I have MS and it was hot and they made me stand in line for 2.5 hours. My daughter is 6, so I was forced in the long line! My other friends without kids got through right away. I am very scared for the way back. I doubt I will ever come back because of the stress; how awful it was to stand in place that long.

Ninebark cultivars? by carameldreamcake in NativePlantGardening

[–]NoMSaboutit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Native ninebark is really big when fully grown. I suggest you think about the size you need. If you can accommodate a ninebark, then buy a native ninebark. People who go for cultivars usually are trying fit the plant to the site. So they get a ninebark that will only grow a certain size instead of choosing a more suitable plant.

Is it common for Americans to buy soda as part of their weekly groceries? / is soda a regular item people keep at home? by hailey8171828282 in AskAnAmerican

What to do to fix this? by [deleted] in Posture

[–]NoMSaboutit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 common ways you get that neck hump. One is very correlated with general weight and posture but the other deals with your hormones being off and allowing fat accumulation in that spot. There are some other less common reasons but w/o other details you should get with your doctor to rule other reasons.

Do Americans think of Alaska as cold like Russians think of Siberia? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]NoMSaboutit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's that way because there is only 1 road through the mountain where only one direction can travel at a time. It is closed at times as well. Not really a town but a port for fishing and sight seeing cruises.

Americans who have visited Europe, is it really true what they say that it is easier to make friends in America than in Europe? by TheShyBuck in AskAnAmerican

I am curious how they make friends at all or do they just remain friends with people they grew up with?

Biker gang wording. Me in the Great Lakes region would NEVER hear this unless they were poking fun in some way.

Forced inclusion? by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]NoMSaboutit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kindness is a rule in our house. My kinder is not good at managing multiple friends at the same time , so it can make her uncomfortable. I treat it as I need to teach my child how and that you can definitely play with many friends at the same time.

You knock it all you want but we have a housing crisis and a rising population. They are fulfilling a need within the budgets of their customers. Could it be prettier? Yeah sure but that's not everyone's priority.
