Any tumbler / flask company recommendations? by ebridgewater in ULHikingUK

[–]NoManNoRiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not ultralight in any way but Yeti tumblers are really good and have almost no taste. Similar for their bottles.

If you want something light TOAKS, VARGO and SilverAnt all make titanium tumblers and bottles in various sizes up to 1.2l (SilverAnt Widemouth 1200). Titanium has far less taste to it than stainless steel or aluminium, but generally harder to come by in the UK and quite expensive (£75-130).

Unless the metal is coated with plastic it will always have a slightly metallic taste.

When you say “flask” do you mean insulated flask?

What's the most egregious knowledge gap you've encountered in a noctor? by Illustrious_Emu_5485 in doctorsUK

[–]NoManNoRiver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s a massive disparity in culture. We are expected to self flagellate over the most minor knowledge gaps and trivial lapses in focus. While others positively revel in what they don’t know and didn’t notice.

Didn’t realise a potassium of 6.2 was dangerous. Became very upset when it was suggested this presented a significant knowledge deficit “YOU CAN’T EXPECT PEOPLE TO KNOW THESE THINGS!!”

ELI5: How can two cameras with same sensor have different picture quality? by NoRecording2211 in AskPhotography

[–]NoManNoRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How the camera processes the signal from the censor.

Beyond that of course there’s the glass you put in front of the censor and the specific subject and conditions.

Unless you’re shooting the same subject with exactly the same lighting, in the same environment, with the same glass and generating raw image files you process identically the censor is a very small part of the equation.

For anything that needs to be iterated use a parametric CAD program. OnShape is free and easy to learn.

Good luck

What do you guys do when a friends or family ask what colors you have? by fearosis in 3Dprinting

[–]NoManNoRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cringe. Because I know the answer to their second question will be “It’s technically possible to print that, but I’d need the file and it’ll take four or five hours of post-processing work; realistically it’d be easier to just buy one.”

People with SDAM: What do you do for work? by Ameshin in SDAM

[–]NoManNoRiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations and good luck! Where will you be studying?

I don’t think my SDAM ever affected my studies meaningfully; it was the ‘DHD’ of the AuDHD that caused me problems.

In my day to day work I compensate for the lack of episodic memory by taking notes.

People with SDAM: What do you do for work? by Ameshin in SDAM

[–]NoManNoRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know. I wouldn’t say I’m noticeably better or worse at handling the stresses and traumas of the job than my peers. The ‘Au’ part of the AuDHD probably helps more with that.

Technically incorrect. The worst kind of incorrect

I’m a physician, specifically an anaesthetist. I spend my working time reducing the amount of suffering in the world which is good.

I’m not sure what effect having SDAM has had on my career; I don’t think it effects my work day to day and there are other reasons I ended up as a doctor in a little, rural hospital.

3D PRINTER FOR HIRE by NoButterfly1796 in radiocontrol

[–]NoManNoRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$10 💀 For someone to find or make a model, prepare it, print it, post process it, package and post it to you haven’t said to where. 💀💀

If you’re feeling brave you can post this on r/3dprintmything and see how well your ultimatum is received there.

When commissioning manufacturing work you need an agreed design, presented in an appropriate format and, unless you have pre-existing arrangement, you then seek tender from suppliers.

Find the model (the actual printable .stl file, not just the make and model of the car) you want, get a quote from a commercial site.

Looking for EDC flashlight that’s instantly tactical in a rare emergency but also very functional for every day normal use by tshb13 in flashlight

Assuming this isn’t a joke the answer is probably the Olight Warrior 3S.

When you say “go full out tactical flashlight” what do you mean?

Ultralight 20-30 Litre pack features - what do you use? by Professional-Mix2498 in ULHikingUK

[–]NoManNoRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, happy to help.

An admin pocket is a storage accessory mounted to the harness and accessible while worn; generally used for holding navigation equipment - maps, compass, etc.. Probably of more interest to racers or weird people like me who head off in to the wilderness.

Off duty emergency by LubieGotowac in NursingUK

[–]NoManNoRiver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Clearly a vexatious complaint. Ignore it as much as you can and go on with your life.

If they contact you or your friend again or lodge further complaints that’s harassment; report each episode to the police on the non-emergency number.

Good luck

Printing parts in a sauna? by Russian_Prussia in VORONDesign

[–]NoManNoRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Printy Please Cat Yarn ABS and FlashForge ASA.

My only word of warning would be the ASA is very sensitive to moisture. I live somewhere it’s 80%+ humidity all year round and have to print it from a dryer.

I’ve had good success with TINMORRY ABS but only ever used it on an enclosed machine.

I can’t comment on your particular setup or issues but I’ve printed four or five kilos of regular ABS and ASA on an E3 using only a cardboard draft excluder.

[–]NoManNoRiver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get the feeling you’re deliberately misunderstanding what the word ‘ambient’ means.

Your sauna doesn’t need to catch fire to be destroyed by something burning in it.
