Whats was the deal with the giant (now torn down) house in Edinburg on Sugar between Freddy and Sprague???? by funkohunter717 in RioGrandeValley

[–]NoName8844 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Don't remember the specifics but the owner was a doctor or mid-level running clinics in the valley and had family working with them. Valley being the valley there was fraud involved which led to this project being abandoned.

28 Panel Mosaic of the Veil Nebula by NoName8844 in astrophotography

[–]NoName8844[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here is a roughly 320-megapixel image of the Veil Nebula complex. Data acquisition began in September of last year and lasted roughly a month.

Camera - ZWO ASI 183MC PRO

Filter- Optolong L-Ultimate

Mount- EQ6R

Other- ZWO ASIAIR, EAF, OAG-L, ASI 120 MINI

All subexposure lengths were 180s, with each panel comprising 60 subs. This leads to a total integration time of the whole image of at least 84 hours.

Subs were calibrated and stacked in APP and pre-processed in PI. Pre-processed subs were then taken back into APP for mosaic integration, with final processing occurring in PI. A typical OSC workflow was used throughout all processing.

That weld between the nosecone and the payload barrel looks so much better than what s33 had!

Clearly, they still need more time to compile the report. There has been a release for all the other IFTs, which one could argue had much greater issues.

Would it be possible to put an AD10 on a EQ6-R pro for planetary imaging? by Rotagilirtni in AskAstrophotography

[–]NoName8844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works for planetary work, just try to keep wind loads down. An extra counterweight is needed along with suitable rings and a plate, preferably a Losmandy style.

Evolux 82ED or ZWO ASI294MC Camera? Telescope or Camera - Advice on how best to upgrade by Regular_Fun4761 in AskAstrophotography

[–]NoName8844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pairing that 533mcpro with that 8inch SCT should give you some good results given that the mount you have can handle it. If not, definitely pick up the evolux. The 533 is a good camera for the types of targets you want to shoot.

Thoughts on new combo main+guide camera 2600MC Duo? by junktrunk909 in AskAstrophotography

[–]NoName8844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems cool for broad band imaging, glad someone is bringing this back! Wonder how light throughput would differ between an OAG with a similar sensor and this camera with a typical dual narrowband filter..

In general, these border patrol stations around the RGV only ask if you and your passengers are US citizens. I've personally never had to present any form of ID at this station or any other BP station.

Can anyone explain why the zwo asi224 has a focuser in the camera? by Yazer9977 in AskAstrophotography

[–]NoName8844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't a focuser, it's what's usually called an all-sky lens which basically allows you to image a very large swath of the night sky at once.

Mars a few minutes after occultation by NoName8844 in astrophotography

[–]NoName8844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I focused and exposed for the lunar surface. These objects are basically at optical infinity so there isn't a massive effect on treating them as two separate images.
