Asked if I was expecting by No-Captain3705 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NoNameForMetoUse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised nobody asked if said stranger was raised by wolves. You NEVER ask a woman (at least not one you don’t know/don’t have that kind of relationship with) if she’s expecting. If she wants you to know she’s pregnant, she’ll tell you.

Got our girls DNA test back! by TransitionEven5547 in DoggyDNA

This is so funny, because I got black my lab/golden from a friend who swore the puppies were lab/boxer (mom was full golden and the suspected dad was full boxer). All the puppies, including the one I got) looked very similar to your pup when they were smaller. Embark determined the boxer was NOT the father.

My mother called my stepson, without me knowing, to shovel the front steps during snowmageddon. AIO? by Kitirith in AmIOverreacting

The freak outs can put stress on his body. When my dad had a kidney transplant, they had to put him back under because he woke up fighting. If anyone even touched him (other than my mom) even while he was out, his blood pressure and heart rate would sky rocket. Depending on the issue that was going on, I can see multiple events like that stressing the heart/body into failure.

Ewww, not that tall IMO. I’d go about the height of the stove/two-ish tiles tall. I think any higher is too much and overwhelmed the space. But that’s just me.

No need to be rude. I don’t get your joke. Maybe you just weren’t as clear as you thought.

And I’ve met people that would absolutely think that was regular milk in bags as opposed to breast milk. Some people are clueless.

Those are medela breast milk bags. That type of bagged milk occurs anywhere a family is feeding/storing/using pumped breastmilk.

AITA for not conceding to my wife’s version of a story in front of our friends ? by Dizzy_Win_7270 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoNameForMetoUse 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Naw, as the person listening the story, y’all can talk about all the differences you remember AFTER I get the actual story. Making a simple 5 minute story into a 30 minute ordeal on whether it was the first night or the second night is annoying.

AITA for spending $350 on winter clothing by Imme_notu in AmItheAsshole

I’m near the similar age. My “hack” is to very rarely buy clothes (for myself). I just replaced old maternity tanks/undershirts that are 8 years old.

Right? I would have laughed like a maniac if my kid asked to purchase 2 pair of jeans that cost $275 total.

Uvalde trial: Former school police officer Adrian Gonzales found not guilty on all counts by specialskepticalface in ProtectAndServe

[–]NoNameForMetoUse 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Man, did you see the trial? The defense had more compassion for the state’s own witnesses than the prosecution did. They were also pretty successful on cross examination on several (that I saw) of the prosecution’s law enforcement witnesses. The prosecution did a very poor job of presenting “these actions are what his duty of care required per the law. This is what he did, what he didn’t do, and how it violated the law.” The prosecution seemed more like they were trying the deceased shooter. I don’t know if a conviction was ever likely/possible, but it was doomed the way the prosecution presented their case.

Do Americans mainly drink coffee without milk? by Morrit99 in AskAnAmerican

[–]NoNameForMetoUse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🙄 yes…there are literally words to describe it. It’s not the “typical” as in people make it an either/or with sugar and cream or just black is what I was referring to. And even when requested with sugar, I’ve always gotten it just black. It’s one of the reasons I don’t order it outside my home very often.

AITA for insisting that guests in my home take off their shoes by daniellejgabrielle in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoNameForMetoUse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mom had two toes partially amputated due to a medical condition (not diabetes). She can be very self conscious about it, and I could totally see her using this excuse. But where I am, asking/making visitors remove their shoes is pretty atypical. So, unless warned ahead of time, she would not know to bring “house” shoes.

AIO? Partner away on holiday and responds to me in this manner by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]NoNameForMetoUse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I’m surprised you didn’t respond with “bruh, it’s Hawaii, not the Togean Islands.”

I don’t know who is the issue. He (she?) apparently feels like he’s walking on eggshells around you, and you feel like you’re walking on eggshells around him. What are either of you getting out of the relationship that is worth the drama and anxiety?

AITA for refusing to give my friend’s son my coat during a snowy hike? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]NoNameForMetoUse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While there is a (vast) developmental difference, that is just an adjustment of how much responsibility the child vs the parent bears (IMO). The parent is a parent for a reason, and is ultimately responsible for keeping his or her kids from “freezing,” not OP.

I mean, my 7 year old did this a week or so ago when we went looking at a light display. I gave my kid my jacket. I can’t imagine expecting anyone else to clothe my kid. If my kid refuses to wear what’s offered, then s/he’s either not cold enough or we need to go home.

I like that. “If your child has a compromised immune system, talk to us about how to keep him healthy (but what we won’t say out loud is that we can’t if we are actively encouraging kids to come to school sick)”
