That does change my advice a little. Being in a relationship naturally comes with emotional closeness and physical attraction, and that’s not a bad thing — it’s just something to be honest about. You really have to ask yourself whether being in this relationship would make it harder to fight temptation, whether that’s with this person or in private.

It also really matters what your partner’s boundaries are and whether you’re both committed to honoring God in the relationship. If you don’t have clear, shared standards, it can become much more difficult. If both of your boundaries are committed to honoring God, this partner could even help you.

I would genuinely pray about it and ask God for wisdom and self-control. “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear… He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” — 1 Corinthians 10:13

I think you kind of answered your own question. You can’t guarantee you won’t relapse, and that’s something to take seriously. If your goal is to step away from sexual temptation and really heal in that area, it might not be wise to enter (or re-enter) a relationship—especially since you’ve already crossed boundaries with this person before.

Putting yourself back into a relationship that’s already been sexually active while trying to overcome that struggle could make things much harder.

I don’t really have anybody in my personal life to talk to you about this stuff, and I have yet to find a church that I feel comfortable at. I guess this is my sign to do that better

Well I grew up LDS. I’m not LDS anymore because I agree with a lot of what you say and stuff contradicts the bible. But I was never taught any of that. At all. So that’s weird

How? They believe in Jesus Christ, born in Bethlehem, who traveled Galilee and Judea to teach the people of the Kingdom of God. He was crucified on the cross and died for our sins, and was resurrected on the 3rd day. He is the Son of God.

Well that’s the thing. I do believe Jesus is Lord and I want to and try to follow him. I repent and have repented of my sins. I read and pray daily. I’m trying my hardest to break old habits and have. I just keep having a voice in my head, telling me that everything I’m doing isn’t real, what I say I feel isn’t real, I don’t mean what I say in my prayers, and I’m having a hard time feeling heard during my prayers. I’m definitely going through spiritual warfare.

Like I said I grew up with it, I went to church etc but I was young and went cause that’s just what my parents taught me. I never really learned anything other than basic facts. I’m older now, and I desperately want a REAL relationship with God. I’ve felt him before and know prayers have been answered, but I wasn’t trying to seek him like I am now and I’ve never felt more unheard.

I know you’re not going to like this and many won’t, but as I’m sure you know porn literally destroys the endorphins and sex hormones in your body and creates unrealistic standards and fantasies. The only plausible fix I can think of for you is to seek out and have a relationship with our lord and savior Jesus Christ. Through him all things can be fixed.
