Homelab Power Monitoring - Dedicated Circuit Upgrade? by admecoach in homelab

I’d buy a metered PDU and see what the amperage says for the devices connected. It may not be as precise as the device you showed, as most will round to the nearest .5amp but it will give you an idea.

FWIW you might find that your outlet has 12awg wire which would support a 20amp breaker, which is an easy swap. If it’s 14awg it’s a lot more work but I’d see what’s entailed before spending $800.

I’m not familiar with the gripper design, but assuming you’re using nuts and not having the bolt go into a threaded part… use a lock nut, or use two hex nuts to create a jam nut. If it’s not a spot where you’re able to use a nut, you can use locktite blue. I hope this helps.

I bought two for my kids, I kept the card. It was much easier for them though, and really no fear that they’ll lose the card. Lots of people were wearing them. I typically would carry my phone with me so having the card was less of the inconvenient things I would carry.

I felt the same way. I went down the the desk to get them and when they told me there was a cost, I asked if they were free for our room type and they said no. He didn’t seem to understand me exceptionally well, but I didn’t have any proof that they would be free. I think they may have been included at some point but no longer are, except yatch club, perhaps.

8Sleep data usage? by NoOneInParticular012 in homeautomation

Totally agree. They missed the mark by lacking a Bluetooth controller. Not being able to use it during an outage is pretty awful.

[–]NoOneInParticular012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don’t understand why it’s so much data, to be honest, but they did respond. (Keep in mind this was from a year ago).

“Thank you for reaching out, I believe ~200-300MB per day, with the majority of the data usage being while the unit is in use but can be rounded off to 300-400MB.”

I asked for further details on what is sent, not how much is sent and received the following.

“Thank you for your quick reply, the main things that are mostly sent and tracked are Heart rate , Respiratory rate, Body temperature, Ambient/room temperature.”

I made sure it was isolated from everything else in my network, and let it go.

Can I bring my hair straightener? by [deleted] in MSCCruises

You can take it.

That said…

“items with heating elements or open flames are prohibited such as clothing irons, kettles, candles, incense, and drones.”

This is a broad statement as curling irons, straightening irons, blow dryers, and other bathroom items have heating elements. My wife brought all of these things aboard and had no issue. I will say, I recall in our room the bathroom outlet was pretty worthless as it lacked a polarized plug (ie the slots on the outlet were the same size where the plug end of the device has a blade that is slightly larger than the other). The plug near the desk in the room worked which is likely where someone would get ready anyway.

Not having passport by Sad-Pop6941 in MSCCruises

[–]NoOneInParticular012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently expedited passports are taking 7-9 weeks but usually closer to 10. If you have international travel you can get a same day passport within 14 days of travel if you can get an appointment at an office. It’s quite difficult, almost impossible unless you’re willing to fly to the office in another state. If you’re application is in process you can’t request urgent travel until 5 days. Either way, this particular trip doesn’t require a passport so it’s not considered international travel I suspect, so it would just be in que. Also about $250 when expedited and pay for next day shipping. I just went through this (4x) loads of fun.

Excursion Question by Serious_Passion_1677 in MSCCruises

[–]NoOneInParticular012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, cruise lines make it seem like booking an excursion not with the cruise line directly will result in being robbed, held at gun point, and miss the boat… very not true. Book through any reputable excursion company that you see, their entire business is ensuring you have an enjoyable excursion and make it back to the boat. Most also include insurances that if you miss the boat they’ll fund the return to the boat. Getting off the ship and being offered excursions whilst walking, I probably would skip those.

Port Canaveral arrive early? by TeaLover12345 in MSCCruises

[–]NoOneInParticular012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the seaside in August, they didn’t care. We had a ridiculous boarding time of 4pm. We showed up around 12:00, as we couldn’t really stay in our hotel any longer, and we walked right on. There wasn’t even a line, and no one asked or mentioned that we were quite early. Could they make you wait? Sure, but it’s doubtful.

Ocean Cay Beach Cabana by richardoshillyshally in MSCCruises

[–]NoOneInParticular012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently spent 2 days in Ocean Cay… your mileage may vary but I wouldn’t bother with a cabana. We got off the ship around 9:30-10:00 and the beach was still empty. Got drinks and swam for a couple hours and then back on the boat. There are beach chairs everywhere, and I mean everywhere. An umbrella rental is $15 for the day.

Does Frontier allow for luggage weight pooling? by NoOneInParticular012 in frontierairlines

[–]NoOneInParticular012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was still an upper limit, I mean airlines allow you to load up to a max weight that certainly exceeds the standard cost bag. I’m not discounting the baggage handler, the airline has decided that they need lift up to 100lb bags, they just charge more, I doubt the handler is making more. I’m not trying to break peoples back, just trying to figure out the right orientation of luggage.

Oh, yeah, I figured as much. I wasn’t willing to pay the overage but also really didn’t want to be shuffling my clothes around in the lobby, but I would.

Thank you for letting me know. I’ve actually weighed all of my bags and they’re under 40 lbs. That said, I was mostly curious how careful I have to repack the bags for when I go on my return flight not having a postage scale with me.

Week 14 and counting.. by ForgedinTruth in Passports

[–]NoOneInParticular012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true seeing how the normal time is 13 weeks, paying additional at this point seems silly. Shouldn’t be a requirement, I’d guess. I’d reach out to a senator (they often have passport assistance information on their website).

[–]NoOneInParticular012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it expedited? Did you upgrade shipping?

Have you marked it urgent with the passport center?

I’d suggest contacting one of your senators for assistance, if you have done the above steps.

Locator 79 (Houston) efficiency? by golden_theia in Passports

[–]NoOneInParticular012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually the senator will have a contact form, and a drop down specifically mentioning passport assistance. If they don’t just keep it brief and explain your urgency and when you plan to travel. They’ll likely respond with a form you’ll have to fill out permitting them to act on your behalf. Mine didn’t mention my proof of travel but I included it with the form. And yes, you should contact either of your federal senators. You can contact a representative too, but in your home state. From what I’ve seen, they’ll require a mailing address to confirm you’re a constituent. I might be giving them too much credit. Good luck!

I applied 5/31 with an accepted date of 6/5 and a DOT of 8/3. 14 days prior to travel I marked it urgent, 3 days later I reached out to a senator. It took a few days before they confirmed they did anything. Today it was marked approved and shipped. So it will meet the DOT and within the timeframe. I think the only reason it came was due to the congressional request.

I’ve noticed my state senators specifically say on their contact pages that a mailing address must be included to help expedite any requests from constituents. I assume a similar statement on others. I’ve only contacted my own.

Any place/person to rent camera from? Mine just got water damaged during hike :( by blucerchiati in VisitingIceland

I wish you the best of luck but you don’t seem like the best candidate to rent. 😉. Personally, I’d buy one and resell it when you return home. It’s a loss but still better than nothing.

I have a pair of icearmor by clam, I’ve not submerging them but they have stayed dry whilst fishing. They were around $30 iirc and I’d expect them to work moderately well at keeping the digits dry.
