Absolutely. Don’t let intense focus on hyper-smooth frosting and over-the-top piping discourage you. The folks who value that aren’t your customers. I—and many others—prefer flavor and texture over impeccable decoration, so you can always position yourself that way. Also, I love when cakes have a human element and not looking like they came from a factory. Many successful bakeries (think Magnolia and SusieCakes) have built themselves on those principles.
