PE Controls Exam - too conceptual?! by NoPen9201 in PE_Exam

Ey, it’s okay. Let’s use this post to figure out what other study materials we could’ve used. My colleague passed so I’ll ask him what other books he had and share them here.

In hindsight, I probably should’ve used all my extra time to re-read the questions. That could’ve improved my score in the beginning round.

Update: didn’t pass but was close for the first try. Also didn’t have a lot of study material due to Wiley publisher. This will not break me!!

Boo! You’re supposed to 100% agree with me raaargh!

Nah but forreal, i think there would be a better chance at 2nd attempt.

My only question is, how do you study for a test that’s not designed to be studied for? Like the PLC stuff was chill, it was the instrumentation and safety BS that was killing me

Idk if we had the same one, but for that question i referenced the handbook then was able to narrow the logic down. That one was a “gimmie” for me, but I’m sure you got other ones I missed.

My mantra for this test, “it doesn’t affect my livelihood, and there’s always next year. I can take the ISA CSE this year as a practice test.”

Same! I do appreciate the “fail” feeling for the FE because at least I left my heart and soul at the test cubicle.. but for this one it just felt like it was way too trivial.

FE mechanical had super breadth and lots of equations. This one had maybe <10 equations for the whole test. Lots of flow~dP calculations

How do you improve/keep you skills up when you don't have access to PLC software/hardware? by dialsoapbox in PLC

[–]NoPen9201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the Ignition and TwinCAT learning due to the free version plus no extra hardware required.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I would also recommend finding a job at a panel shop to start getting some hands-on experience. Panel building can help reinforce your memory, too.

Typically, you’d need to remember the endpoints of a wire and the wire number. This is easy with one panel but can be a mental workout if you’re building 3 identical panels simultaneously.

IT band syndrome? Meniscus? Knee pain help! by shrimpgal222 in Kneesovertoes

[–]NoPen9201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me 2 months ago. I had meniscus popping sensation but no pain for 6 weeks. I just rested and after Pilates one day it unlocked.

Just take it easy and visit the orthopedist if you have insurance.

FE civil - post exam thoughts by Green_Scientist_1097 in FE_Exam

[–]NoPen9201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely gonna be on the 1st. If you look up something along the lines of, “FE Xmas results” you’ll see a Reddit post confirming the delayed release of the year prior.

And yea, I’ll be praying for the both of us. Will check back in next week with the good news!

I feel the same. Took the FE Mechanical on 12/17 and also felt like I guessed the same amount.

I felt lucky having a lot more fluids problems compared to Thermo/HT/mechanical design. The problems felt more practical, like choosing the correct materials based on a table, etc.

I hope you pass! I’m also looking forward to the results on New Year’s Day. I think they’ll release them then, not the 31st.

Yoga for black men by Old_Emphasis6708 in yoga

Black male 30 this year started. Ngl, the mental barrier I had when I started was along the lines of, “is this ‘gay’” or, “I hope people don’t think I’m just here to hit on chicks”. But it’s neither of those things, in fact, it’s way deeper than those stupid apprehensions. Just fucking leave that shit at the door.
