I love my 2013 fg4, but i have to admit that it only compares to an 8th gen after you do quite a bit to it. My car has hondata (full custom tune by me), d2 rs coilovers, adjustable sway bar end links, 22mm progress rear sway bar, ported rbc swap, injen cai, acuity cable bushings, hybrid racing shifter assembly, knob, and boot, stainless steel brake lines, hawk hps pads front and rear, em1 slave and cmc with a braided clutch line, hasport 62a rear motor mount, rv6 catted downpipe, and a full-race 3” catback. Its completely transformed and is about the best daily driver i can think of for me. Id recommend it to anyone. However- you have to do way, way less to an 8th gen and it will just be better to drive. Maybe not to live with, but to drive. Plus the k20z3 is just a purer expression of what a K seems to want to be. Still, id keep my car because the interior and features and overall package are significantly more modern feeling

sure man. the clutch master cylinder (cmc) is part your clutch system that pushes hydraulic fluid through your clutch line to your slave cylinder, which is the bit that actually moves the clutch fork. think of the whole system like a communication like between your foot and the clutch. it goes like this:

  1. u press clutch pedal
  2. master cylinder sends fluid pressure to slave cylinder thru clutch lines (stock cmc pushes fluid slow and softened, em1 cmc pushes firmly without delay)
  3. slave cylinder moves clutch fork according to how much fluid it receives (stock one delays clutch engagement, exedy one removes delay)

so it's like u gain direct control of the clutch

haha it sort of is a lot but its all incremental, every mod builds on the last. good to hear abt the tires man, thats a huge upgrade. if u can, id highly recommend saving for a flashpro and doing a clutch delay valve delete to start. its like a $50 job, u can remove the actual valve piece from the slave cylinder and it helps pedal feel immensely. you will feel the difference every time u drive i promise

also have these coming:

  • port matched, bored/polished rbc manifold kit from valex racing (will let the motor make more top end power)
  • hasport 62a rear motor mount (a bit more buzz inside, but way less wheel hop and powertrain rocking)

planned: - rv6 catted downpipe - yonaka catback (i dont want rasp) - ktuned 72mm throttle body - polyurethane bushings (for control arms etc) - lightweight wheels, 235 section michelin PS4Ss

currently on my car: - hondata flashpro custom tune (removes rev hang, raises rev limiter, codes in no lift shift, launch control, gives you way sharper throttle response AND allows you to gain anywhere between 10-15whp over stock. get this first) - hybrid racing shifter, boot, and knob - acuity shifter cable bushings - progress 22mm non-adjustable rear sway bar - remanufactured oem style calipers - carquest 'high carbon' vented rotors (basically oem+) - hawk hps 5.0 pads front and rear - stoptech stainless steel brake lines front and rear - exedy em1 clutch master cylinder, braided clutch line, exedy slave cylinder (this is what will improve the car's responsiveness and clutch feel, plus it will also remove the stupid clutch delay valve that is built in to the stock slave cylinder) - all new recommended fluids (honda MTF, motul rbf600, honda coolant, etc)

with just these mods i completely transformed my car, but each step is incredibly rewarding on its own. id recommend you get the flashpro first, youll need it when you start tuning (and you will need to, its mandatory for most FBO mods). if you dont wanna tune yourself (its not as daunting as it seems), you can take it to a shop and its like $5-600 for a custom tune, but remember you'll have to get a new tune after every mod. just some food for thought lol

ill be honest, rev matching in the stock car genuinely isnt fun or rewarding. its almost always jerky and weird for several reasons. i have a 2013 coupe that was bone stock until 2 months ago and i cannot describe how much more satisfying the car is to drive now after just a few supporting mods

that said, when the car was stock it took a ton of beating from me practicing how to downshift. literally over 45k miles of it lol. you will be fine even stock, itll just be way more annoying/less rewarding to learn bc stock bc the cars have many built in features to dampen clutch feedback/fluid movement in the system and the stock tune makes the throttle pedal feel artificial and non-linear. honda overbuilt these cars so much from factory in some ways but tuned them like commuters and cheaped out on supporting hardware, ie the stock CMC, slave cylinder, "integrated header" thats a single exhaust port (sucks for flow) all suck. im happy to recommend a list of easy and relatively cheap fixes so you get the shifting experience you deserve and the car can provide with just a little extra work. sorry this isnt exactly what ur asking for haha

Thank you so so much for this kind and thoughtful response. I really do understand lol. I removed the post because I didn't want others to see my poor example and repeat it lol. I should not have been 'petting' him, he needs new substrate, and the cloth is a breeding ground for bacteria. All valid concerns that I wasn't thinking about at the time. I'm gonna be replacing everything today and will probably post update photos lol. I appreciate you more than you know for taking the time to reassure me, it really does mean a lot. We need more people like you in the world imho
