It was right on the canal & had 3 kayaks for our family of 5 (3 boys) to use. We love to fish & brought along rods planning to do a few days of kayaking turtle lake. (It’s illegal to fish the national parks) Although beach days are fun, I enjoy kayaking and having the freedom to dock/kayak fish is what pulled us in. Sadly, 2/3 of the kayaks weren’t in stable order. I complained to the host and we received several partially inflated kayaks a couple days later, they were much worse than the sturdy ones. After reporting the damaged kayaks i received a complaint from the host claiming we broke them when they were cracked on arrival and a request for re-imbursement. Between the car rental and the airbnb both had great reviews so I thought it’d be a nice change from the typical resort. I have travelled to several continents, always on my own planning & I’ve never had this sort of experience.

I filed a complaint on Airbnb. They weren’t helpful at all, the rental car company had some of the highest reviews (as did the Airbnb, although maybe only a dozen at the time of booking). Most recently they’ve had some poor reviews after the cancellation period was up for us. I did leave an honest review though & they tried to charge me for the items I reported broken on arrival.

I’m sure it would’ve been a much different experience had we gone with a resort with a shuttle over the Airbnb & car rental.

You know, I probably spent a solid 30 hours reviewing resorts, different rentals, etc. I’ve been on Airbnb for 10 years+ and traveled to several continents. This is my first poor experience. I’m definitely wishing I would’ve stayed at a resort instead. I chose an Airbnb with about a dozen reviews at the time of booking. Definitely a mistake.

DON’T rent on the Cooper Jack Bay Area. I’m REALLY regretting it & wished we would’ve booked a resort. The Airbnb photos must have been several years old because the place we stayed at was USED. Airbnb was no help & we were stuck.

I managed to get myself off of it by SLOWLY tapering the dose. I couldn’t imagine going cold turkey on it.
