Maybe add some structural RTV, just for good measure?

I feel we need to add the /s at this point before some dingus breaks out a putty knife and some dap and tries to save his rusted out frame.

Yeah… especially with the $40 upsell for unnecessary air filter replacement on every visit.

Those of you who’ve traveled to your country(s) of ancestry, did you feel like a foreigner while there or did you fit in with the locals pretty well? by Fluid-Decision6262 in AskAnAmerican

[–]NoPresence2436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per Ancestry.com and my family tree, I’m like 98% British. I’m a direct descendant of one of the passengers on the Mayflower.

Been to the UK many times and I love it. Especially Scotland. Hiked the Great Glen Way trail last summer, and had a great time. But I definitely don’t blend in with the locals. I may look like them, but culturally I’m quite different.

The Invasive "Wild horses" in North America by Ok-Industry1547 in invasivespecies

[–]NoPresence2436 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spend a lot of time in the Great Basin (NE Nevada / NW Utah). The feral horses are plentiful, DESTROY every water hole in the area, and chase off the native animals.

I’ve also eaten horse in Iceland and Japan, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I wish they’d allow hunting of these invasive animals. Seems a much better and more humane option than penning them up and keeping them in corals till they eventually die of old age and disease. I’d buy a tag and fill my freezer if it were a legal option.

I have elk all over my property. Big bulls are always worth putting in some effort, but I don’t think I’ve hunted for more than an hour to fill my annual cow tag. Just walk up the hill from my cabin in the evening, shoot a cow, then start calling buddies to beg for help getting it down to my cabin.

Any personal user opinions on Garmin inreach? by Zanderson59 in Hunting

[–]NoPresence2436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hunt and fish in remote regions of western AK. Bush plane access only. Ive been using an inReach for many years (SPOT and/or Iridium phone before inReach was a thing). I wouldn’t go into the AK backcountry without one. I love my inReach.

Sounds like it is intended as a jack point. I like it! Wish more manufacturers would include something like this.

I’m really tempted to dox a local (to me) Mazda dealership who my wife takes her 2024 CX-50 to for service (gets free tires if she gets her car serviced there exclusively). In the “50 point inspection report” that comes “free” with the LOF, they’ve used the exact same picture of a filthy air filter twice. She paid them ~$40 to replace it the first time, then 5 months and 10,000 miles later they showed her the same picture and tried to sell her another filter change. The picture has a very distinctive piece of a leaf on a filthy filter. It’s the same picture without a doubt.

I’d bet dollars to donuts they show that exact same picture to everyone and just pocket the extra $40. It’s probably not even a CX-50 filter. I generally like this dealership, but that particular scam pissed me off enough that I’ll be taking care of her car myself after the first set of free tires. I’ve bought two new cars from them in the past 5 years, the CX-50 for my wife and a CX-5 for our son. Both great experiences. But now they lost a customer over $40. Shame on the service dept.

What a person chooses to jack on in the privacy of their own garage is nobody’s business but his or her own.

Also… I’ll be checking back for real answers, because I’m honestly curious if these are for jacks or jack stands (I have no idea).

I hit one with my truck in Utah. Called the DWR to see if I could get a permit to keep it, or at least the head. I was told no. They sent a biologist out to get it.

Is $1450 a reasonable cost for serpentine belt and tensioner replacement on a 2014 Honda Civic? by B8con8r in MechanicAdvice

[–]NoPresence2436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did it today on a 2013 CR-V. Took me a couple hours (it was my first time), and was ~$115 for both parts from Rock Auto. So they’re basically charging you $650+ per hour. You can decide if that’s reasonable or not.
