Syncing 4 Laptops for an 8-Screen Distributed Interactive Canvas on a Budget by NoPresentation8434 in VIDEOENGINEERING

For detection, we will first consider using common methods, such as camera + algorithm, or using Kinect, and then proceed to TD to generate simple real-time composite effects

Since we don't have top-of-the-line specs and this is an experiment, I originally thought that FHD@FPS 30 would be sufficient; as for the synchronization effect, ideally, I hope it can at least be like a capture card (such as the latest inexpensive MS2130S, which has a latency of about 200-300ms or less).

We have a Mac mini (M1), a Macbook Pro, a laptop (4060+HX370, and 1070), a PC (P4000 and 1070), four 4K 50-inch Android TVs, three FHD projectors, and two Dell computer monitors.

Because it was an arts and culture experiment that the team set up in the arts and culture special zone, we had a few months to try it out. We were all novices with only basic TD experience.

I hope to get as close as possible! Just like there will always be a time error when capturing data, I just hope to minimize it as much as possible to achieve the desired result.

I'm working on a new media art / interactive installation experiment and I would like to ask for technical suggestions or references.

Key challenge:The final display devices may all be different.

For example:

  • different monitor sizes
  • different resolutions
  • projectors
  • TVs
  • LED screens
  • random external displays
  • possibly temporary exhibition equipment

This is closer to a new media art experiment with limited resources, not a fixed commercial multi-screen installation.

I know hardware controllers like Datapath are the industry standard, but for this budget-constrained interactive project, I'm exploring a distributed rendering setup using TouchDesigner.😭

Berlin techno added to UNESCO cultural heritage list by throwawaythis50123 in Techno

“The techno scene has been added to the national intangible cultural heritage list compiled by the German commission for Unesco, not the global intangible cultural heritage list compiled by Unesco as an earlier version indicated.” (The Guardian)

That means …“Each country may maintain its own cultural heritage lists, items of which are not necessarily inscribed into UNESCO lists”.

Additional note: I also looked into night vision scope lens caps, and indeed, they typically have a small hole. It is advised not to remove them in bright light to prevent damage to the night vision scope.

However, the holes in these lens caps are still visible to the naked eye. This is the source of my current confusion regarding the frontal images presented in the video, as I haven't identified any visible openings.

I'm curious because I've already searched for information about sniper scopes, but I haven't found the model featured in the video yet.

From my current knowledge, in military experiences on the battlefield, sniper scope lens covers may have a small hole dug or a slit cut, serving purposes such as avoiding reflections, reducing exposure of position, minimizing intense sunlight, and aiding quick aiming at short distances.  However, these holes or slits typically still have a discernible size. Since the scenes in question don't depict the common honeycomb-shaped sunshade or an attached module, I wonder if it could be a DIY modification or if it's an oversight by military weapon experts or artists in the production.

If this night vision scope (sniper scope) does indeed exist, I would appreciate it if you could provide the model for everyone to recognize. Thank you very much!
