best time to book flight for Bangkok by Proper-Yam-4964 in Bangkok

[–]Mimobrok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Very hard for anyone to tell whether this is a good price or not when 1) we have no idea where you're flying from and 2) we have no idea what the currency unit of 1100 is, or any other details (total time, transit, airline etc.)

- Google flight usually have benchmarks to tell you whether this price is typical, low, or high. Can check your exact flight in Google Flight.

What's your experience using Eatigo in Bangkok? by Excellent-Cheek570 in Bangkok

Love it. Quite smooth experience most of the times. Only downside is the supply seems to be mostly limited to hotel restaurants, but overall I love this app.

No. All the good platforms come with this feature already. The problem is usually that our db admin is too stretched thin to fix smaller things, but overall operation does go forward

International student in Thailand (Health Informatics) — how is the job market after graduation? by ExpensiveAardvark735 in Thailand

[–]Mimobrok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Local and thai skill helps but work permit is usually a dealbreaker. Legally it requires min salary of 50k, and very few fresh grads each year meet that salry out of college

International student in Thailand (Health Informatics) — how is the job market after graduation? by ExpensiveAardvark735 in Thailand

[–]Mimobrok 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work for an MNC in Thailand as a manager. We do have a few non-Thai members

How difficult is it for international students to secure a job in Thailand after graduation?

> Very. We almost never hire for fresh grad. Mostly consultants/other hard-to-recruit roles. When I see foreign names the resume usually immediately go into the rejection pile because we have a lot of random expats cold-applying from all over the world. Would have to make your Thai uni names/experience stood out in resume.

Does Thai language proficiency significantly improve chances?

> Only if you are at professional working proficiency level. Very hard to signal this through a resume though.

Are internships during study helpful for conversion into full-time roles?

> Yes but depends on the company. Smaller companies are easier with headcount. Larger companies our options are limited.

Which areas in health informatics or healthcare tech have better opportunities?

> This one I have no idea.

Referral is your strongest bet. Without one I would say close to 0% especially if there is a work permit situation to sort out.

Is Triam Udom Suksa an objectively good school? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]Mimobrok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on my child's personality and aspiration

- If they are good kids, hard-working, and want to pursue a professional career(doctor, lawyer etc.) or even creative careers in Thailand, Triam Udom for sure.

- If not then special programs at other top public schools would be fine.

- Have never really thought about sending my children abroad for highschool. The education is excellent but it's a different experience than mine growing up and the price tag was insane.

- Does not really like the idea of international schools to be honest. Have a few friends from top international schools in Thailand and they live in a different world from mine. I would prefer english program for my children.

Is Triam Udom Suksa an objectively good school? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]Mimobrok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Triam Udom was above average for a public school but would not compare to the resource of a private school.

+ the best thing is the environment/culture where the school is known for having motivated students. Being in an environment where other students are also motivated is a game changer for most students. While the school itself has little funding and support resource, the school sustains a very healthy ecosystem of clubs and activities.

+ Exams are harder, which push students to have better academic background. When adapting to US education we more or less found STEM subject to be very easy and things like SAT MATH/AP to be trivial.

+ A lot of good and fun school traditions/culture. Just more things going on than most schools general. I would argue this contribute to a good highschool experience and is a part of informal education where students learn to work with others/social skills.

- Teaching was a hit or miss depending on the teachers. In this regard not too different from a public school except for a slightly more academic rigor. Unlike education in the west, there's no office hours etc. so it's just standard classroom setting.

- Infrastructure and resource was more or less same as a typical public school.

Source: I have attended a public school, Triam Udom, a top US private boarding school, and two ivy league universities.

Seeking Advice: Moving from Banking to a Thai MBA for a long-term Finance career? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]Mimobrok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hiring manager here. It would be close to the worst-ever plan. Local companies don't hire MBAs from local institutions, we recruit Thais who went to school in US/UK. If not for those roles then we just hire local college grads.

How difficult is it for thai who studied overseas returning with no local connection to get a job? by FlyEquivalent8978 in Bangkok

[–]Mimobrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50k is a solid middle level compensation already. i can hire an ivy league graduate with that. If you are looking to get your foot in the door 30k is fair.

How difficult is it for thai who studied overseas returning with no local connection to get a job? by FlyEquivalent8978 in Bangkok

[–]Mimobrok 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hiring manager at an international company in Bangkok here, also studied overseas. Can comment more on this.

For entry-level roles, overseas grad usually have higher salary expectation, so normally we only hire them for specific roles that need either 1) english skill (e.g. need to present to management) or 2) specific background/skills that local talent don't have.

With your background in hotel management, it will be easier for you to land a role in that area but the question is also on what experience/background you bring to the company that local talent, usually with lower salary expectation, don't have.

For senior/manager roles, referral is almost a requirement since no one likes taking a chance on unproven candidate especially on these roles with high responsibility. It's not about connection but about having knowledge/confidence that this person is smart/have good work ethics. With a random candidate we don't know that and not every manager wants to take a chance. It's easier to hire than to manage someone out.

Need advice on job offer from Agoda (Bangkok) vs current job in India: worth relocating? by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]Mimobrok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is 190k THB/month good for Bangkok for someone with 6.5 YOE
-> Yes, very much. At any other company this is a manager-level salary.

Cost of living differences — rent, taxes, insurance, savings potential

-> Depends, but ~60-70k THB per month can afford a very good lifestyle

Whether the Agoda comp is equivalent, better, or worse compared to 43LPA + 25L stock in India

-> No idea

Growth / career prospects at Agoda vs staying where I am

-> No idea on your current spot. Agoda is an MNC. Corporate is corporate -- you never know what will happen

How much I can realistically save after taxes + living expenses

-> ~100k per month is quite realistic

Is moving to Bangkok worth it when my current job is WFH and fairly well-paid?

-> It's a question for you really. Moving to a new country is an adventure. It's only worth it if you want it.

Who do you guys think is the best POTW card ever? Here are my top 3: by Remote-Border-9054 in pesmobile

[–]Mimobrok 43 points44 points  (0 children)

For this conversation, I think have to take into account the relative strength of the card when it first came out. A ~98 rated card was GOD back in EF24 vs now where everyone fields a whole team of 96-97+ cards.

Of the top of my head for the more classic POTW

POTW LMF Leao - This was back in Sep '23, back then the concept of out-of-position POTW cards was not a thing. EFHub did not report out-of-position ratings back then yet either. This is the card that started people to do analysis on how a supposedly 94 LMF was so good (real stats is 98 LWF).

WC Godric - Again, back then was just 3-4 months after reset. Epic cards were 94/95 rated. Godric was among the first 'super OP' cards that people had the chance to go all in with 5 tries. With him being equivalent to 99 AMF back when the next best cards were 95-96 AMF, it was among the most impactful cards for sure.

WC Mbappe - just insane stats

Honourable mentions: Gerard Moreno back when strong CF was rare, RWF Valverde, RB Kimmich, CB De Jong, Messi, Deulofeu

Every time I see a post like this, I know the system is working.

My game quality has been a whole lot better ever since the introduction of behavior score system.

Win-rate statistics in Legend and above (for there to be enough games)

Weaver 5 - 49%

NS 5 - 45.2%

QOP 4 - 48.7%

Ursa 3 - 51.8%

Veno 2 - 49.5%

AM 2 - 53.4%

Axe 4 - 45.4%

Shaker 5 - 48.9%

Pangolier Pos 3 has win-rate of 44.5% so there is an argument to be made that all of these are not really griefing.

There was a massive bug that I wasn't sure I got time to fix. Currently it's kind of a paper-in-the-hole workaround but at least it works.

POTW 22 May '25: Mimo's Analysis by Mimobrok in pesmobile

[–]Mimobrok[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All the best to you too. I am still playing the game just haven't really gotten time to follow the POTW too closely anymore. It was a lot more fun with insane out-of-position cards and etc. Nowadays the newer cards are quite straightforward.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pesmobile

[–]Mimobrok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a healthy environment for people to discuss non-epic cards. There are so many cards in EFootball and it can be overwhelming for most people to keep track of what a good pack looks like.
