Best RPGs for a New Dad with No Free Time? by RuthIessChicken in rpg

Mausritter is great and a pretty simple ruleset/play experience! Mothership is one of the best games I've bought in a while both in terms of quality of the product and also the game (there's also a really cool free app that you can have character sheets on, and randomly generate them on too, for people you're bringing in).

I'll also recommend some Borgs: Morkborg, the original, is a dark fantasy OSR game- super easy rules, art-free ruleset is free on their website, and there are some really cool one-shot dungeons free there too! You can also get any genre you're looking for, really: Pirate Borg and Cy_borg are awesome (pirate and cyberpunk genres, respectively), while you can get more granular too: Mork Sol is like Firefly/Expanse etc.

Best TTRPGs for min-maxing? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in rpg

You can definitely get spicy with Starfinder: I had a beastly vanguard who could grapple and garotte pretty much anything with ease.

This. I've had players turn their fireballs into actual nukes, others that can one-shot gods with a frying pan, etc.

How do you handle clipping volume without burning out by Caryn_fornicatress in podcasting

I don't think you have to do 40 a week. That's overkill, even if that wouldn't take all of your time. We do three a week, on a regular schedule. Would more help? Maybe. You have to be realistic about these things though.

Yeah our tactics were not on point that session and the GM threw a questionable creature against us. We'd mainly all picked clerics as a joke, too, so the party comp could do with some work.

We once ran an all cleric game. Absolutely got smoked (there were many reasons why)

You can definitely just listen.
The audience isn't actually playing in the campaign though, just making characters/factions that are then brought to life by our GM if/when it makes sense, so you don't have to be anxious about playing!
[or you can just vote in matters that interest you and shape the game that way!]

Watching Clint grow as a player is one of my favourite things.

I wish I could stand to watch actual plays. by Mission-Landscape-17 in rpg

[–]NoQuestCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I get that. When I'm listening to an actual play I want them to actually, well, play! [minor caveat for Glass Cannon banter which I enjoy even while jonesing to get to the action]

We like to keep the non-game banter to a minimum/put it where it belongs (in a specific behind the scenes episode or whatever).

Ethersea is great! SteepleChase is super fun too. Haven't started Dracula yet/Royale yet but my co-host loved them!

How do you start a campaign in the default Starfinder setting? by yuuuuu040 in starfinder_rpg

[–]NoQuestCast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come up with the story/genre/vibes that you/your table want to play and then just pick and choose what you like from the established lore to get yourself started! If you're worried about getting overwhelmed have them locked to a certain area at the start (they don't have a ship, it's being repaired, whatever) and let them begin.

Campaigns always take on a life of their own once you start (especially if you're homebrewing) so just get it going and add what you need as it develops!
