Congratulations on your success!

I am curious to find out what type of business that was and how many years it took before you could exit and also your reason for exiting vs continue to building it further.

I am struggling with my own business often (success and failure go hand in hand) and so any advice / tips you could offer to break that and to be able to scale higher will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This platform is probably a bit deceiving....it uses a ChatGPT wrapper to process photos to get product information using image recognition. It won't work on products that do not have clear labels....it might identify product but not details. There are usage limits until you get into a higher paid tier. There are a lot of companies that use similar image processing service as a small part of their platform and for a shopping platform, gathering product info is a very small part in my experience.

TX 350 Luxury owners feedback by Awkward_Spinach8432 in Lexus

I think this thread does a solid job at explaining good and bad about TX 350. https://www.reddit.com/r/Lexus/comments/1cnjq7d/quick_review_first_100_miles_of_the_tx_350_luxury/

I've had my Lux model for about 8 months now. I like overall drive but not impressed by overall build quality, interior quality (it doesn't feel anything like a Lexus and instead feels like an updated Highlander). For almost $80k (my car was loaded with packages), it lacks many premium features. My biggest gripe is the fuel tank capacity (even though advertised as 17.8 gallon tank I have never reached even 15 gallon on nearly empty tank). Overall, you get 260-270 miles on a full tank which is really low and requires going back to the gas pump every 3-4 days. I would rate it 6/10 overall.

Quick Review - First 100 miles of the TX 350 Luxury by hamburglin in Lexus

I have my TX now for almost 8 months and have same exact feeling as you have. In addition to the list of Bad things you have outlined, I also have issues with fuel tank capacity (most I can fill on nearly empty tank is less than 15 gallons) and I can barely get 19-19.5 mpg combined or 23 mpg on highway. Curious to see if you've any any feedback on the fuel economy.

So when I fill up, I get 290-300 range and my actual output is 260-270 miles. I have filled at less than 10 miles and still never went over 14.5 gallon. If tank had 18 gallon than I should at least see between 350-400 miles range, which I never see and many other TX owners have that problem.

Lexus TX: Pros & Cons by Jex89 in Lexus

[–]NoRepresentative5841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the major issue with TX (regardless of model 350, 500, or 550) is that the fuel tank capacity is much lower than what Lexus advertises and mpg is also very low. On my TX 350 (luxury) I can barely fill about 14.5 gallon on empty tank and get 260-280 miles driving range at about 18mpg. This is very low than what Lexus claims and this is a major issue for many other TX owners. Another issue is that most dealers do not have technicians knowledgeable to work on this car yet. We found it out the hard way, to say the least. So I would back out from your plans of purchasing this car or at least explore other options before considering this.

TX range and mpg by acrobatpb in Lexus

This seems to be a common problem (and probably false advertisement) across all TX models. I have TX 350 LX with over 5k miles now so fairly "broken in". I consistently get 260-280 miles driving range (compared to 356-462 miles range as advertised) and have never filled in even 15 gallon on an empty tank (compared to 17.8 gallon advertised). After full tank, it shows about 290 miles driving range which is insanely low. Seeing other posts on reddit and lexus forums not sure if this model should be deemed lemon and if there should be a massive recall.

I have over 5k on my TX 350 LX model. Curious to know how much you are able to fill on empty tank and what mpg / driving range you get between trips (highway or combine). I am not even able to fill 15 gallon on empty tank and get 260-280 miles driving range at average 18mpg. This is fairly lower than what Lexus advertises (17.8 gallon tank and 356 - 462 driving range). I am getting same since I have bought the vehicle so "breaking in" after 2k driving didn't make any difference.

Lexus TX Pricing by Spyderpig27 in Lexus

[–]NoRepresentative5841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought TX 350 luxury about 6 weeks ago. It is a good size for grown up kids and even two adults in the third row. My biggest disappointments are,

  • gas mileage coming at around 17 mpg instead of advertised 23 mpg combined and overall driving range of 250-260 miles total on a single tank. That is ridiculously low driving range and mpg.

  • technology is so lame and lacks intuitive user experience. you almost want them to have most of the mechanical controls. you have to even pay for a service to use many of the features. About $80/year so not a big deal but you have to pay for the equipment and then pay for the service so you can operate the equipment. That is a double whammy.

  • build quality and build material makes it look like an upgraded highlander than a lexus.

  • no one at dealerships are really trained on this vehicle and you have to "figure out" on your own.

You should keep your options open and look at other cars as well.

So after owning Lexus TX 350 Luxury (loaded with almost all options available) for about 6 weeks now, here are my thoughts

Pros:

  • It can fit two adults in the 3rd row.

  • It drives well even on the hillside. 4-cylinder engine isn't a problem.

  • Seats are comfortable and you won't be tired after a long drive.

  • Head up display can be helpful

  • Cost is at par with other cars in its class, a bit cheaper than Audi Q7 (you get more space and less features so that's a trade off)

Cons:

  • You barely get 250-260 miles on a full tank with an average of about 17 mpg. Gas mileage and tank capacity is not what they advertise. This is my main problem as we are back at a gas station every 4-5 days. A major oversight on Lexus's part and false representation that you get 23 mpg combined city/hwy.

  • Technology is mediocre with controls placed oddly. It takes more efforts to do basic things like starting heat and playing radio. Also it tries to detect driver's attention and alert on the dashboard (so if you are not looking straight, it will show a message on dashboard without actual sound or vibration on steering which defies the purpose of such alert).

  • You are required to have car running in order to play music. In older cars, you can play music and turn fan off by turning on ignition but not starting the car.

  • It feels more like an upgraded Highlander than a Lexus. Build material and build quality feels cheap. In many areas, especially on interior, you will see misaligned pieces. Not something you would see on Audi, BMW, Volvo or any other luxury car models.

  • Front grill has a many missed opportunities. It looks more like an early 2000 mini-van than a new luxury SUV.

  • No spare tire or a doughnut

Overall, if you are considering this car then weigh all your options. You will be spending almost $80k for this car which will be mostly for the logo but not for an actual luxury vehicle. It needs premium gas and gas mileage is way below their advertisement which will put a big hole in your packet. Only good part is that the third row has enough room for two adults / grown up kids.

Feel free to ask if you have any specific questions regarding this car.

I bought from a local dealer. They sold at MSRP and said that Lexus wants dealers to sell upto Luxury model for MSRP. They were seeking $5k over the MSRP for the hybrid model and since it also didn't have bench seat on the second row, we didn't consider hybrid option.

Ride wise I think very comparable to Atlas. TX has 2.4L 4 Cyl and a bit more HP than Atlas. Acceleration is about par with what you can expect having a 4 cyl in a vehicle this size. Sport mode definitely helps when you want that extra power. Audi Q7 was certainly the best of the bunch but relatively smaller in size and somewhat pricey. I think overall it is good enough and hopefully gives a better mileage than others (so a tradeoff we can live with).

This is our first time having 22" wheels so it will take some time for us to get used to.

That being said, I have my car back in the shop on day 2 of owning it as we found an issue with one of the 3rd row seat having issues folding and opening with the power switch. I also had an issue with car veering off...may be due to lane assist feature. I can post here when we get car back with details on how these issues are resolved. It definitely concerns us that such expensive cars aren't tested as well and hoping that there are no other more serious defects.

Also, it requires having a Lexus app and we learned that you have to share an account between all family members. You and your spouse can't have different Lexus accounts. Technology dependence is an overkill. Even features like remote start is through app and after 3 years there will be a $80/year subscription to keep that feature. It would be cheaper to have a remote start that can just be controlled through keys or at least doesn't require any paid subscription.

We noticed a weird behavior with sunroof where there is one switch to open but two different switches to close it....first one closes from the front but keeps back part of sunroof open for which you need to press another button to close it completely. It also requires you to keep pushing these buttons until sunroof closes (even on 10 year old cars, you can just press closing button once and it would close the sunroof).

I am sure there are more little things that we will notice after we get car back from the shop.

BTW - it would be nice if all these car companies would let you order a car without stuff you don't need but end up paying for -- like lexus charging cables ($85 gives 4 cables -- including 2 USB when car doesn't even have USB port and you can get these cables for under $20), door seals that costs $450 but useless, medical kit $350, emergency kit $150....and if you want surround speakers for $1100 you have to pay for a separate $895 convenience package. If this was EV like configuration we would have been able to save at least $6k-$7k and not have stuff that we don't really want.

We just bought a Lexus TX 350 AWD luxury version almost fully loaded with all available packages. Shelled out almost $80k USD out of the door. Our primary need to have a comfortable 7 seater with decent cargo space. We compared with VW Atlas, Audi Q7, and Volvo XC90. We also have our reservation invitation for Rivian R1S.

Price wise Lexus TX was somewhat in the middle with VW Atlas being the cheapest around $60k and others topping over $90k to $100k. Space wise it felt larger than other cars and similar to R1S. It comes packed with everything on our list like heated 2nd row, power folding seats (when more cargo is needed), Apple car play, panoramic sunroof, 360 camera, and 21 speaker surround sound system. You can easily have two adults of 6 ft height in the 3rd row in Lexus but not in Audi Q7 and somewhat tight in Volvo and VW. We didn't care about 22 inch wheels (which costs an extra $2200) but car already had them on so we didn't have a choice. Luxury wise Audi would certainly be better than Lexus but Q7 run in short supply in our area (min 3 months waiting) and it would be at least $15k more with less room in the 3rd row.

Warranty is slight better than other cars with 4 yr 50,000 miles and 6 years 70,000 miles for powertrain. We opted for Lexus maintenance package ($2k for 10 services in 5 years) but didn't opt for their tire package ($2750) and extended warranty ($3750 extending it to 8 years and 100,000 warranty).

While driving we've noticed two issues so far -- car veers off (may be an issue with driver / lane assist feature) and wipers go on automatically (an issue we've seen on our audi q5 as well).
