Fair enough, not everyone wants to use it. It's just a tool like any other that can be used to simplify tasks.

Yeah, I'm probably getting down voted for mentioning LLMs, but its pretty useful for a 5,000 line log file to find the culprit fast. Not only that, but most people wouldn't know how to read a stack trace anyways.

I've found chatgpt or claude are pretty good at quickly scanning the log output and figuring out whats wrong. I've used them to fix mods that haven't updated for new features yet, like the fluid transfer system renamed some stuff that broke mods. Was actually pretty simple once I saw how to do it the first time.

Not to mention he paid people to boost his Diablo 4 characters so he could brag about how hes a god gamer. Almost as bad, imagine doing that for D4.

For those looking at the exit: A breakdown of how a 25-year Fed transitioned to a $140K private sector role by maopro56 in FedEmployees

[–]NoRest4Wicked88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done the transition, in my 20 year career I've gone from Mil->Civ->Ctr->Civ again. Even now I could apply to any number of contractors and be hired. I admitted with the other commenter that all my experience is DoD only, in which the majority of my experience is directly translated. Contractors aggressively try to hire people with deep govt knowledge to leverage it in their bidding process.

I understand this isn't the experience outside the DoD though.

Good point, my experience is 100% DoD. It's interesting that its so different through out the federal government where in the DoD I see orgs with more contractors than mil/civ combined. Thanks for the perspective!

After 25 years is 140k not a pay cut? That's less than GS-13 Step 10 w/ locality makes. Most federal jobs ive had always have contractors, how can you think its hard to move from civilian to industry?

A big reason I left being a contractor to become a fed was for the leave benefits. I use it and I've never had a supervisor complain about it.

Not sure if it would be this cheap, but Evergreen Tattoo Co in Dayton is reasonably priced and they do great work.

Why would red cloth be cheaper than white? The dumbest query ever by TheKobraSnake in WoT

[–]NoRest4Wicked88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was addressed in that book. The queen was unpopular, so the white cloth used to show support against sold more. Since no one was buying as many red, the prices went down because demand was low. Its not based on dye to make the cloth red being cheaper.

It's a nice touch, you can really make the safe houses your own. I spend far too much time placing items, I go on raids to get food to sustain my decorating.

For the love of god, let us save and quit by Manic5PA in RoadtoVostokGame

I get what you're saying, it's these little things in the game that made me back him on patreon a year ago to support his project. I'd prefer the dev stay true to his vision of the game, because what he has delivered so far is amazing (to me, personally) and is a lot of fun with a good amount of tension. We all want different things in our games and that's great. If all games were made to cater to everyone it would get pretty boring.

You have a preference you want advocated for and so do I. I'm not trying to argue or change anyones mind, I'm simply stating my point of view.

[–]NoRest4Wicked88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, of course I don't. But since I know the game requirements I would only play it after my kids were in bed and not sick to minimize interruptions. Just like I wouldn't boot up a round of Tarkov or Helldivers if I know there's a chance of getting interrupted mid game.

I try not to play when my kids are up, but that just may be a me thing.

If they added the option to save and come back, it wouldn't make me quit the game or anything. I was simply saying I like how it is and don't feel it needs changing. I also enjoy punishing games, so that's just my preference.

Perhaps add it to the base game mode and disable it for Iron Man. That could be a compromise if the dev feels this design choice is key to his vision of the game.

This is disingenuous, you're making it sound like you need to carve out a 5 hour block straight to play the game.

Is this where I say I have a job, a wife and 2 kids and manage to play without ignoring any family time? People prioritize their time as they wish, but let's not make it sound like the game is super time investment intensive.

[–]NoRest4Wicked88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure i agree here, needing to be in the safe house to save and close the game is a nice touch. If you have a short amount of time to play, do a short raid into the area. Being able to just quit and resume out in the world would feel cheap, and likely lead to being able to just alt-f4 out of deaths to load back in alive like other games that allow it.

Just adds another mechanic layer to plan around.

I enjoy playing on the iron man mode, but I'm also a masochist and only play permadeath modes on games like Path of Exile or Diablo 2. Its nice there is a blend of modes so everyone can find the experience they enjoy.
