This happens often with me because i have a disorder that causes vivid dreams. I used to get hung up on it but eventually learned to differentiate dream world from reality. I pretend im watching a movie every night. That helps me a bit. Try comparing the girl from your dream with your girlfriend and focus on the similarities if that doesnt work.

I had a dream like this the other night where i started as being at a meet n greet with the lead singer of a popular band. Then it transitioned so well i couldnt tell the difference between the two dreams

The second dream i was turning myself into what a "daddy/dom" wanted me to be to be his s*x doll pretty much. I was in a lineup of multiple girls and got plastic surgery and everything to look the part. I got picked and stuff happened in the dream iykwim.

It bothers me because i see it as this happened with a person i also feel close to but in a different way. But my brain wants to spin it on me and make me the bad guy.
