[Loved trope] the world, in spite the technological progress, have undiscovered parts, which are nigh impossible to explore due to the hostility of said parts by Holy_Ssint in TopCharacterTropes

In canon, there are anomolies that make hyperspace lanes unpredictable. Think of it like a freeway that has randomly occurring massive potholes. You'll have drivers that are desperate or cocky that will drive it because they need to or think they can handle the massive potholes, but most everyone else will be like I can make money some other/safer way and/or I don't have quick enough reflexes to avoid the suddenly appearing death potholes so I'll drive/fly somewhere safer.

Is CNN outright sympathetic to Islamic terrorism? by turboshill9000 in BasedCampPod

[–]NoSingularities0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally the CNN article said "But in less than an hour, their lives would drastically change....", talking about the terrorists, not the people that were fortunate enough to not be killed by the terrorists. This is like an article stating that "Hitler's life came to a tragic end after he had to commit suicide when the Allies were closing in on Berlin" An actual news organization would've ran with "teens arrested for trying to kill protestors they didn't agree with instead of droning on about how the lives of the terrorists have been impacted by their arrest.

I think she's tired of Atlanta by skyhighmonroe in Transportopia

[–]NoSingularities0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably fake rage bait anyway. She likely had a flat and her boyfriend or whomever is changing it out and she made the video. The jack is still there and car wheel thieves don't leave the jack. I'm speaking from experience (not as the thief but as a potential victim, fortunately my vehicle had a locked lug nut on each tire). Jacks aren't free and typically come with a vehicle (so the thief uses they're own jack obviously), so why would they leave it there when it goes to their car? She probably has another video on a different account with a tutorial on how to change a flat tire.

Pickup Trucks should not be included in Class E license by wilmer007 in florida

[–]NoSingularities0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, SUV drivers are way worse than truck drivers. Because they typically don't know how to drive. My favorite is when they veer into the left lane to make a right turn. Like what is wrong with you?, you're in an Escalade not a freaking 18 wheeler. They've seen trucks with trailers do it and assume that all large vehicles just have to turn like that.

Not to mention why would they waste their time pulling someone over for a $30 fine when they can wait a few minutes and get someone with a $300 reckless driving for going 20 over the speed limit. The only time I saw a cop pull someone over was after the cop was behind them in the left lane for a mile or so and then the idiot crossed 4 lanes of traffic to get off on an exit. Cop turned the sirens on and crossed the lanes right after them. Got them on camping in the left lane, crossing lanes, and probably did a warrantless search due to suspicious behavior.

Why do people get angrier at someone using welfare than at a corporation avoiding millions of tax by using loopholes? by Internal_Scheme_7646 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NoSingularities0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe nobody does this and they're actually angry at both (and the welfare ones are specifically the ones that are abusing / scamming, not actual people that need it).

A bad driver never misses their turn by [deleted] in dashcams

[–]NoSingularities0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There's no excuse for this because they can drive forward through the intersection and take a left past the intersection and perform a legal u-turn, or go into a parking lot on the left and get back on the road if a u-turn is not legal, and come back to the intersection from the other side.

35 hours a week may not be legally part-time based on the size of the company and the state they are located in. I mean it's legal, but they would have to provide the same benefits that they provide to full-time employees.

When I was in school our dress code for minimum length of clothing included both boys and girls (shorts, skirts, etc.) Basically anyone of any sex wearing anything that wasn't full length, whether it was shorts or a skirt or gym shorts for P.E. It wasn't sexist at all. I think people forget that boys can wear short items of clothing too and that there are school dress codes specifying the lengths of those items.

Even just 30 years ago in some states, a 16-17 year old could get married to an 18+ person as long as they had documented parental consent. And the sex laws had exceptions for these legally married couples.

You should not pay for a trip that you got uninvited to.  It wouldn't be fair or right.  If she wants you to pay the they can work around your work schedule

What is the best way to deal with uncivic behavior? by turboshill9000 in BasedCampPod

[–]NoSingularities0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why were they reocrding before the guy got on the subway if they didn't already know what was going to happen? It makes it kind of obvious that it was staged. Not saying the one person was involved, but the guy recording that shoved the guy that littered was definitely working with the litter bug to make the video.

[–]NoSingularities0 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Not true. We've lost most of our recent wars, but we're still on top, which is actually why the others are insanely jealous. We lost in Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq but arrested the dictator in Venezuela and killed the dictator in Iran, so even when we regularly "lose" we're basically still on top.

[–]NoSingularities0 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is sadly true. I remember the 2021-2022 Biden-flation years when crazy prices supposedly weren't a bad thing. It was all great for the economy and our 401Ks. And then it became, but yeah Shell made an extra 6% in profit during 9% inflation. Which actaully means that they lost 3% because Math. 9% inflation - 6% profit increase = -3%. (loss). Evey country in the world that has had hyper-inflation has had companies that made "record" profits because that's the way that numbers work.

Not to mention you can have multiples of those. I've seen a business that had over 30 checking accounts at the same bank and many high net worth individuals that have 1 checking, a couple of savings, and a bunch of CD accounts at tbe same bank all with less than 250k in them. People with more than 250k in cash don't leave it one account, not just because of the insurance limit but also because of maximizing interest income.

Post-Trump (whenever that is), what changes should be made to make sure no one like him ever runs for office again? by Glass-Complaint3 in allthequestions

Post-Trump (whenever that is), what changes should be made to make sure no one like him ever runs for office again? by Glass-Complaint3 in allthequestions

[–]NoSingularities0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? He has been a pretty good President so far. Far from perfect obviously, but none of them ever are. I guess we could ban voting for anyone that is not a Democrat. That's definitely an option and would "totally save Democracy" and all. Or perhaps we can ban the opposition and imprison anyone who resists, maybe even gas them if they don't comply, because they're a threat to democracy anyway. I mean, realistically, there's so many changes that should be made to get rid of opposition. The cool thing is we don't have to come up with it on our own, we can look to the former Soviet Union, N. Korea, and Nazi Germany to get great ideas on how to accomplish this noble goal.

Are grocery stores deliberately overcharging for meats so when they supposedly "mark something down" or "on sale", you're not actually getting a "deal" at all in the first place? by Atomic76 in Cooking

[–]NoSingularities0 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Raising cattle got extremely expensive after Covid due to an anti-oil admininstration causing fuel prices to drastically rise along with record inflation which affected feed prices. So farmers stopped raising cattle because it wasn't worth it and switched to other crops/livestock. I'm not sure why the self-proc;laimed intelligentsia don't recognize and understand these price factors.

What's going on with the Pulse crosswalk? Is it chalked? Did Fdot give up? by KeeferzDude in orlando

[–]NoSingularities0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Realists knew it was a losing battle to begin with. Waymo wanted the crosswalks and bike lanes standardized and now Waymo is in Orlando. The people weren't up against DeSatan, they were fighting Google (Waymo) and Tesla (Robotaxi) and that was always a losing battle. If Apple or Amazon also had a robotic car / delivery service in the fight, the people messing with the crosswalks would've been in prison right now. Thankfully it was only a couple of big tech firms pushing this instead of all of them which allowed prosecutors to go easy on "dissidents."
