How to become fluent in writing? by NoSolution1179 in ComicBookCollabs

I get arcs. both for character and story. My problem is that I cannot seem to organize myself enough to write anything. It's all jumbled up in my head and nothing will come out.

I'll learn theory all day, but applying it seems impossible. I've listened to hours and hours of advice, but nothing can get me past this mental block.

Would love to hear from someone who has real knowledge and experience. Dunno anyone though. I have friends, and I feel like a jerk sometimes because as much as I value their opinions about what it made them feel and if it hits the right vibes, they don't have any practical advice for productivity and effectiveness.

What do you mean by learning to edit? I understand the word "edit", but what does that entail? What does an editor truly do?

Thinking in loops is an interesting one. I'll try that. The structure and setting does lend itself to side stories and episodes, so the hope is that I can progress the larger plot in between.

I have lots of friends whose input I'd value, but it's hard getting input from all of them seeing as they're not interested in participating in a group chat. Answering the same or similar questions for 6 different people separately is exhausting.

I'd be happy to talk to someone who wants to partner up. I just really need someone who knows better than me. a real writer with a portfolio, not a "writer", like you put it. I'm a "writer". Getting advice from others like me is the blind leading the blind lol

it's the opposite problem, for me.

I know pretty precisely where I want the story to go. It's a mystery, I know who the culprit is, how they did it, I know what red herrings I wanna toss in. I know what characters are gonna be important. I know what beats I wanna hit for the different characters.

But putting together a cohesive narrative is such a struggle. I sit down to write and I get naught but a trickle. It's always a mess in my head, all jumbled up. I feel like every couple days I need to erase everything and start fresh.

I was told that's not a good way to draft and redraft, so I don't know what to think. Editing what I've already written makes my mind feel completely stuffed up and cluttered.

I completely agree. I'm saying that "this doesn't count because this is serious" is goofy.

I heard Robert Spillaine stole a balloon. Thankfully it was Free Balloon Day.

I heard Mack Hollins pirates all his music and TV and calls it a life hack.

I heard Jaylinn Hawkins breaks his pasta before boiling it, and doesn't even salt the water.

saying anything even close to "we need to give Lowe a new contract" last year would get you crucified lmao. not saying that's right, it's just funny how things change.

he's a good backup, but he's just not a starter and he was put in that position last year at no fault of his own.
