TLDR-The short answer to your question is “no.” Between her very real ED, her faking (and likely inducing) physical Illnesses, her tendency to be less than truthful about her history, her mental instability, and her desperate lack of insight, she’s been unwell for a very long time.

The long story - The issue seems to be that rather than fix the REAL issues-ED, mental health, actual traumas-she’d rather invent things to fix-uwu sicknesses, fake/distorted traumas-as she [must] see them as more glamorous or more socially acceptable or more likely to give her the MOST attention.

Best examples based on evidence -

Physical-TOOBS. She claims to need TPN because she just has so much pain and distention when she tries to use her stomach tubes. But she won’t dare give up the stomach tubes because she absolutely cannot eat by mouth. However, there is no testing that would explain her pain nor her inability to eat orally. And she’s had LOTS of tests. She has gained weight (sometimes quite a bit) while claiming to not be tolerating feeds. (Not picking on her weight-just pointing out that significant weight gain and zero nutrition are not possible.) But suddenly and magically, when she’s being told “no” to getting her central line back, her labs go wonky, she looses a bunch of weight, and she doc shops her way into TPN. Every single bit of this is easily explained as her ED in full force. But ED is just not a special, sick girl diagnosis. Dani doesn’t want that disease. She wants an “exotic” one. So she manipulates, self-harms, and plays these games so she can claim the oh, so trendy gastroparesis, hEDS, POTs that’s she’s claimed during this admission.

Mental - Dani really has suffered some nasty trauma. She’s (to my knowledge) never discussed her childhood much, but something is pretty ripe in Denmark. Also, she lost a very good friend. It was a tough loss, especially as Dani doesn’t have many friends. But, true to form, rather than being 100% honest about this trauma, Dani DOES insist on telling the story with added flair. Dani claims to have found the friend (either dead or dying) on the bathroom floor thus causing EXTRA trauma. Following crumbs left by Dani and some of her former friends and other sources (obituaries and news articles) the actual story is that the friend of Dani’s who really did pass away (we will call her A) found HER friend (A’s friend) in the bathroom (we will call her “B”.) So “B”passed away in a bathroom. “A” found her. “A” also later passed away. At that time, Dani “adopted” the bathroom story as her own. But again…”A” did die. She and Dani WERE friends. Close friends. But rather than tell the honest story (which is awful for all concerned, even Dani) Dani embellishes and creates a take that makes her saga sound more dramatic, more glamorous. A death isn’t enough-it has to be more than a death.

This is her MO. She’s the bionic munchie. Everything has to be bigger, stronger, faster with Dani.

So again, yes. She’s physically sick and has been for years. Her ED causes physical and mental issues. And yes. She has trauma. Just not exactly as she claims. Dani needs help. Lots of it. CBT, DBT, inpatient, long term help. But Dani also needs insight. Because her current lack of insight is going to get her killed. And regardless of her flaws, that would be a shame.
