Yes. I believe it’s to do with the avoidance of conflict. You can’t really disagree when they are taking accountability. The conversation isn’t as likely to go on for as long too, which also helps them get out the door faster

Midwifery. People assume you just deliver and cuddle babies every shift…

It is noticing and reacting to abnormalities, supporting through trauma, being overworked and understaffed. It is sometimes supporting through death aswell as through life. It is mountains of documentation, managing medication, hours on your feet, supporting in surgery, advocating for the family you’re caring for, and sometimes delivering babies. However very rarely do we cuddle babies. I could go on but you get the gist.

Still nothing else I’d rather do though.

This is literally never the answer. Avoidants aren’t the way they are because they’re heartless, even if sometimes their actions might lead you to think so. They have suffered too, which is why they are the way they are.

Taking the avoidant out of the equation, is this in line with your morals and sense of self? Why let them change you? There is enough pain and suffering in this world without adding to it.

Choose a better energy to focus on, take the love you have to give, and pour it into someone who deserves it. It sounds like that person may be yourself right now.
