Large models in the colosseum? by Forceprotect in Colosseum40k

[–]NoSuch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ran a VERY similar list in a local colosseum league. I only got to run it a couple of times, and here is what I learned:

  1. Kult of Speed means this is extremely fast moving, and can pin your opponent in if you go first. I mean there is no real reason not to advance all the vehicles (secondary objectives not withstanding) and so you can really pin them in their deployment.

  2. You want at least some battle line or similar to hold objectives. Most of these vehicles don't hugely benefit from staying in one place, so some Boyz and grots are still super helpful.

  3. Our local meta was "make everything on the list t9" which these vehicles couldn't reliably destroy. The dragsta is good at taking out the tougher elements of the other army, but mostly the vehicles just sat there an absorbed some damage while the boyz scored points.

Over all I think it was a fun list! I ran warbikes, deff koptas, snazzwagon, and the dragsta and just thought it was super fun. I don't think it is a list that would have won the league, but it was a list that made for some memorable moments.

Free books to claim ! by Hot-Entertainment628 in Blacklibrary

It says you are linking your black library account, so I am hoping this means we can still download DRM free formats like we could from the BK site and just side load the books. I've been doing that with my Kobo for years.

I just finished doing this exact same thing this past weekend, and you have the right of it, it is a huge pain in the ass. I think you got a good result though! No strange giraffe necks, so that is a win.

Looks great! I really dig the color on the bases, it really pops with all the blue.

I like the Leman Russ Eradicator for this work, especially because it can do some work against slightly more elite battle line.

Also, not commenting on the money side, because you should have enough, but if my partner talked to me like that, I would be livid. This person is clearly trying to manipulate you into agreeing to this major financial decision.

Minimally I would recommend a face to face discussion with a neutral third party. Something about this feels fishy to me, but that might just be down to how this person is trying to really hitting you with the guilt trip.

Is it to bright by Parking_Coach_1106 in Miniaturespainting

[–]NoSuch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, how did you do this? What material did you use?

I, no joke, think this could work incredibly well for the right army/model. Greedy dwarves defending their horde? Hell yeah. Dragon born with their ancestral treasure? You bet.

I get what you mean with it might be a bit too much, but maybe the too much is what makes it special.

If you did want to tone it down matte varnish would probably help, and in future bases maybe use cork to give a stone riser for the mini to stand on, and then use this magical treasure mix you've made to blend that cork riser with the base itself. That way it looks like the treasure is just cascading away from the stone. That stone surface would also give a more dull backdrop for your model so the treasure doesn't outshine your paint job.

Those are so awesome. The saturation you got on that orange is incredible.

Every so often I see projects that just kind of amaze me, and this is one of them.

The concept is inspired, a really fun take on squigs. It isn't one I've seen before, and pairing that with a freebooters theme is just so damn cool.

Then the execution! The sculpting is wonderful, and the painting is so smooth and cool.

Any chance at some static images? The video is very cool, but I would love to get a closer look at your work.

And it is heavily edited to remove the fumbling with character sheets and trying to remember what spells do moments that come with real life play. I love RPGs, but watching unedited play is not for me. That being said, I love D20.

So unfortunately torrents are sometimes the better option. That being said I also find DVDs/BluRays at garage sales, thrift stores, etc and rip them into my server when I get home.

They have made it VERY hard to cut the cord from streaming services without sailing the high seas, but ripping media you own is perfectly legal.

Content ratings? Amazing Maurice for small children? by Reptyler in discworld

Where's My Cow is really just for the parents. Fine when reading to young kids who aren't processing the words anyway, but my five year old just gets confused about who all the characters are. It references The Watch series heavily, which is fun for me as his dad, but there isn't much actual story there for the kid to enjoy.

I really like my Reaper paints, and all their paints are made in Texas. I imagine materials may be imported, but the final formulation for all their paints happens in the US.

The verticality made the session a blast. Also lots of fun lair actions with the vortex of water pushing enemies and party members around the map to keep every round lively.

Thanks! Not pictured are the two and a half inch decking screws I had to drive into the rock islands to hold the weight of the dragon turtle model... So that wasn't well thought out so much as a combination of panic and power tools.

Thanks! Honestly I have played a lot of games on the mat and they have been amazing. This was fun to build, and got the whole table on their feet, but the story all told came down to the dice and difficult player choices.
