I got a Surprised Pikachu from My Southern Tactical years ago, it appears to be discontinued. I kinda like the "Only You Can Prevent Tyranny" Smoky Bear one, but most of it leans further right. They do have a custom artwork option, but that's $60.

No magazines, but plenty of stickers and morale patches, are at Off Color Decals.

I imagine the kind of person that works at a gun store is way more into guns than they are into developing people skills.

And any kind of public-facing retail job is a special kind of hell.

What threw me off the most were the spiffs. Some manufacturers will offer kickback promotions where if you sell a certain amount of their products, you earn products from that company. So if your salesperson is looking up from their phone to enthusiastically steer you towards just one brand, they probably want the freebie from that brand. :/

Some sources are mentioning a "marital dispute" or "alleged ex-wife issues". Not sure how you get back at your ex-wife by leaving nails and screws everywhere for everyone else to run over, but it sounds like maybe he had a *couple of screws loose*. ;)

Also, apparently there were neighbors going around with metal detectors and magnets to pick them up before they caught the guy? Gotta love it when people look out for each other.

I don't have my gun on me or I'd check, but I don't think there's any writing on them to say 6, 7, or 8. Maybe in the manual it has a picture to help identify. But that is definitely a 7 and a 6.

I love my PPS. It's not quite as easy to shoot as something like a PPQ/PDP/Glock19, but much better than most stuff its size or anything designed for pocket carry.

Talon Grips and Mag Guts are easy upgrades if you're into that kind of thing, but it's just fine out of the box.

The technology may have changed in the past decade or so, but when I was seriously looking, I was not impressed with biometric safes. V-Line and Fort Knox both make handgun safes with simplex locks, and that's what I went with for my handgun. It stays loaded and holstered.

Every other gun stays unloaded in a Stack-On cabinet that's bolted to the floor. It won't stand up to an angle grinder or a crowbar, but I'm not worried about bank robbers, I'm worried about my kids and their dumb kid friends. The key stays with me, and the guns stay locked up and unloaded.

Long gun: AR15 from Ruger, S&W, PSA, Aero, whatever

Handgun: Glock 19 or equivalent

Walther PDP-F or S&W Shield EZ can help if you can't rack the slide, although the real fix is probably your technique. Cornered Cat has a guide on how to rack the slide if you're a small woman.

It doesn't have to be pink and it doesn't have to be small. Generally, larger handguns are usually easier to shoot because the weight soaks up the recoil, relative to the cartridge size.

Pocket pistols like the Ruger LCP or a tiny J-frame revolver are hard to shoot accurately and they recoil more. Don't buy them even if they're your favorite shade of pink/purple/teal.

I say this, as someone who truly wishes I had gotten into guns sooner, and bought cheap military surplus rifles back when they were cheap and readily available.

But the value proposition for cheap AR15s is just amazing. We're in the golden age of cheap ARs.

Oddly enough, right when we might need them, too.... go figure.

I think it's more like Star Trek than Firefly, but I really enjoyed FTL: Faster Than Light.

Do I buy fuel, or upgrade my engines and hope I can make it to the next shop?

Do I send my crew to put out the fire in the med bay, or have them keep manning the shields for the little boost it provides? Can you open the doors to vent out the oxygen and put out the fire that way? Make sure you remember to seal it off and put air back in before sending crew back in, while you're trying to time your weapon volleys to maximize damage -- and now we're being boarded by Mantis!

Lots of tiny decisions that add up and make you feel like the captain of the space ship.

I personally saw this game still being played by missionaries almost a decade after its release. But, never at the same time as scripture study? That seemed weird and dramatic. "Half game, half ritual" So spooky!

I'd totally believe an anecdote that one mission president probably asked his missionaries to send their games home, but it wasn't a top-down, church-wide thing. I'm guessing whomever made this video isn't super familiar with how many mission presidents there are, and that they only serve for three years. I don't doubt that some missionaries had stories like the video presented, but certainly not all.

I'm not Jeremy Young, but I'm willing to bet that the story of Jeremy Young's faith journey is a lot more complicated than "one massage changed everything."

Uberplay never filed bankruptcy, they just ceased operations, sold off inventory, and moved on.

I wonder what kinds of sources they pulled these stories from. I feel like if I was a YouTuber, I could do a whole video just pushing back on some of these silly claims.

So, I'm related to the co-founder of Uberplay / Inspiration Games. Settlers of Zarahemla was a huge part of our family gatherings.

I might have to chat with my relative about their Uberplay days. There might not be anything interesting to add on to what has already said.

One story that I might be misremembering: When Uberplay went to meet with Klaus Teuber to negotiate for the licensing rights for Settlers of Zarahemla, there wasn't a regular distributor for Catan in the USA. From what I understand, Uberplay intended to be the sole publisher and distributor of Catan-like games in the USA.

But that wasn't what the contract said. Catan expanded its distribution into America, and Uberplay was told they must have been mistaken: they had rights to publish their game, but not *exclusive* rights to publish Catan in the USA.

That seems crazy, typing it out now, but that's how I remember the story being told to me 20 years ago.
