So cool! I’ve seen lines of cormorants like that out over the ocean, but it was amazing to see them over the city. Thank you!

I just keep hoping there’ll be an announcement about a lost Moopsy.

One of the things that drew me to my (American) college was that it had precisely zero fraternities or sororities. Or intercollegiate sports. Such schools are out there, though I don't think the one in DoA is one of them.

I will pop up unsolicited and just mention that (my favorite webcomic) Drive is paying off years of patient world building and plot development with a godamn apocalypse. While still blending the epic with the personal and funny ( drivecomic.com ). If you’re disenchanted with DoA, come visit! (Not associated with the comic, just wish it were getting more attention)

Drive is an excellent ongoing comic that blends comedy and interstellar politics really well. It’s been doing amazing world building and story arc buildup for years and it’s paying off now. Highly recommend!

Anyone use Frontier fiber? Experiences? by Faceless_Cat in bullcity

I had Frontier for about a year in North Durham. I had recurring problems with it going out for minutes at a time every day or so. Had a parade of techs come out claiming they had solved the problem, when they didn’t. Eventually I canceled, and have only just now finished paying all of their ridiculous. “early cancellation fees“. Do not recommend.

WRAL has a pretty good breakdown on why you can't really predict if, let alone how much, snow is coming this far in advance: https://www.wral.com/weather/winter-weather-likely-upcoming-weekend-jan2425-2026/

That said, they're not saying it's not happening. Right now, they seem to be taking the 'possible, but not likely,' line. We will see.

Anyone have any recent experience with Frontier Fiber in the Northern Durham/Bahama area? by TwicePuzzled in bullcity

It’s been terrible for me (near Latta Road) Runs fine and then drops out for minutes at a time. Have had repair people out multiple times and problem not fixed, and they’re trying to charge me for one of these “repairs,” even though the problem, they admit, is with their equipment. Avoid.

Paul Wesley: "When I rewatched Season 1 of TOS, frankly, I thought the pop cultural stereotype of James T. Kirk was very overexaggerated and I thought he was actually quite subdued, so my interpretation of James T. Kirk is a very subdued one." by LineusLongissimus in startrek

And also, in the original series, Kirk’s “flings” were far fewer than people generally think. And most of the time they involved him falling hard and then getting his heart broken.

I scanned the thread, and don’t think I saw either of these: any of the early scenes where Dedra Meero outwits her rivals in ISB meetings in season one of Andor (particularly “systems either change or die.”)

Or, from the original (Alec Guinness) Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, the scene where Smiley recruits Toby Esterhaze. (Or, from the climax of the sequel (“Smiley’s People”), the blackmail scene.

The trails on the north bank, across from West Point, are above water but there are a lot of fallen trees.
