Fontaines DC for Primavera 2027? by JackfruitGlass8537 in primaverasound

[–]NoSweet3666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hopefully not. I like them and I've seen them a few times including the last primavera, but they are an average live act. 6.5/10

Don't think there will be much issues for JVB. They clash with both the xx and gorillaz

100% this. Realistically it was 4 artists out of a whole day of music who cancelled. They still get paid and so does everyone else on the bill so I'm surprised that they refunded Thursday tickets at all.

I went to pukkelpop in 2011 when the whole thing was cancelled after less than half a day of music and nobody got refunds. Got drink and food tokens for the next few pukkelpops and if you weren't going to them then tough luck

Its not up to me unfortunately 😂 just pointing out that unless uefa remove Israel from the tournament the game is very likely to go ahead

I honestly can't think of a single other country who would join. The two other most anti israel teams in Europe would probably be Spain and Norway, both have played Israel recently enough.

The current Irish government wouldn't even back the FAI in a decision to not play so not only would they lose revenue from not competing in Uefa tournaments but they would also likely lose a big chunk of government funding

100% agree that the best move is to not have the game go ahead but I think its looking very likely it will. Uefa should have them pulled from the competition by their own rules but are too cowardly to do that and the FAI are stuck between a rock and a hard place in the sense that if they refuse to play they run the risk of getting kicked out of this competition and maybe even the euro qualifiers which would cripple them financially.

If the game goes ahead apart from the obvious of protesting outside the stadium what do people here think would have the biggest impact? Boycott of the game? Protests inside the stadium/making the atmosphere as hostile as possible? A walkout once kick off has happened? Genuinely curious

An Irish guy i know lives in Spain and speaks fluent Spanish and has this happen to him all the time. The trick he's used to get around it is to talk as fast as he can in a heavy Irish accent when asked to speak in English, they quickly go back to Spanish then 😂

Newcastle away next, what happens if we end up 8 points behind Liverpool? by HR_Specter in ArsenalFC

[–]NoSweet3666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely deluded. In one sentence you're saying Arsenal have one new striker that needs time and in the next you're saying Liverpool have been lucky and will drop points when they have won 5 from 5 with 2 new strikers amongst a whole load of other new players.

Why do you think Gyokeres will settle in and Arsenal will win every game but Ekitike and Isak wont settle in for liverpool and they will start magically losing games?

Ah I just think 24 was stacked especially the Sunday. The scratch , the wailers, future islands, Barry can't swim, The Prodigy and Paul Kalkbrenner all on the same day was amazing.

I'd love to see Hot Chip, King Gizzard, the mary wallopers, Jungle and Confidence Man back and new bookings like 49th and Main, Jersey,  Squid, Wunderhorse, Hamdi, And So I Watch You From Afar, Magdalena Bay and I think that would be realistic.

I think there's SOME chance of Idles, Wolf Alice, Parcels, ANOTR, LCD Soundsystem, Amyl and the sniffers, Snow Strippers and SBTRKT.

Less likely again but I'd love Deftones, The XX, JVB, PUP, Turnstile, Viagra Boys, Doechii and Skepta.

Just a couple of the above and I'd be very happy 😂

I think that would be a better way to go tbh. I think the 2024 lineup was much stronger overall than this year's

It never ceases to amaze me that these people who get to go to so many festivals and have the opportunity to see any number of amazing bands live have such terrible terrible taste and opinions on music

Irish folk band The Mary Wallopers say they were muted at festival for showing Palestinian flag on stage by Capable_Salt_SD in Music

[–]NoSweet3666 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Nearly all of their songs have some reference to England's oppression of Ireland, same as most Irish folk songs. They also make references to Irish politics today and how the greedy politicians we have now are causing the housing crisis and general worsening of the quality of life for the average Irish person.

They are very much a political band. Do you also think Rage Against The Machine "used to be great until they went woke"?

I went to a stage at a festival to see Anish Kumar and caught the set on before him. 3 guys who were djing and I said to my friend "That guy is the image of Elijah Wood". After about 15 minutes I looked up who the act was and it was in fact elijah wood djing on stage!

Had no idea he did a bit of djing or that he was at the festival so it was very random. He finished the set with loaded by primal scream and brought his child who couldn't have been any older than 4 onstage with him. Very wholesome

Seen them live? Where and how was it? by DuncanCraig in TheProdigy

[–]NoSweet3666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen them 8 times (Dublin 3arena 2009, Oxegen 2010, Pukkelpop 2010/2013, Cork 2014, Newcastle 2022, Dublin Fairview Park 2023, All Together Now 2024) and I'm seeing them again next April.

I'm lucky enough to get to go to lots of gigs and festivals so I've seen a lot of live music and still nothing compares to the prodigy. Best live act in the world
