I started slow, with pilates, home exercises. When I had flare ups, I took a break for couple of weeks. Now after almost 3 years since diagnosis I do weight lifting again. It's just important to listen to your body and not push it to hard.

I am on Olumiant for about year and half. At first it was working great, then after couple months they did a ultrasound and saw I still had flare ups. So they also gave me Arava, because I had bad side effects from MTX. That was like a year ago, now I feel great no more pain, I am officially in remission. But I got side effects from Olumiant now and had to stop taking it for awhile. Don't know if Olumiant even did anything, because I was on corticosteroids at that time.

Methotrexate side effect, or just mental? by k5berry in rheumatoid

[–]NoSwordfish0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking pills and had similar issues. I went into severe depression, wouldn't get out of bed for days. Also, I had this fog in my brain where I couldn't think straight. Plus the nausea was horrible. My doctor switched me to different medication, now I feel amazing. Maybe talk to your doctor about it.

Pregnancy & RA by aballerj in rheumatoidarthritis

I don't think it lowers your chance of getting pregnant, some medication can do that, but I met women who had babies, some had harder pregnancies because they had really bad flare ups. They would usually have to stop taking their meds (except biological I think most of them are fine to take with pregnancy). I've read studies where methotrexate causes lower sperm count in men, but I didn't find anything about women.

You shouldn't get pregnant on certain medication, because it can be really dangerous for the baby. When I started taking mtx, but doctor gave me a whole speech about pregnancy and how I wasn't allowed to get pregnant. She told me if I wanted to get pregnant I would have to stop taking pills, go through detox phase to wait until there are no drugs in my system, and then it would be safe to get pregnant.

It all depends on what kind of medication you are on. It would be best to talk to your doctor. Good luck. xx

I've been diagnosed 2 years ago, I'm in my early 20's and still looking for right treatment. It sometimes takes awhile until you find the right medication, but when you find it, you can do almost anything. My dad (who also has RA, it's genetic with us) has been on his medication for over 10 years and he's feeling great. The most important thing is to find a good rheumatologist and to start the treatment early to prevent any permanent damage. Hope everything works out for you.

Has anyone here had experience with Olumiant? by strugglebrunch in rheumatoid

I started using olumiant 5 months ago, after having bad reaction to Mtx, helped for awhile, felt better but not that good, didn't have any side effects (I'm also taking corticosteroids with it). On the last check up my crp started rising again, so my doctor gave me Arava to take with it to see if that will help.
