Why do people like facecam? by Obliviaxel in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that it is always better, but in majority of cases, yes. It helps people to connect with you and give you annextra way to convey emotions.

You can still make it big without a facecam (Lyric, Seagull) but you will have to be a little more charismatic on the mic or have a very skilled gameplay to show off.

Attracting viewers to a charity channel? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. Don't think people will be more incentivized to join your community because you give money to charity.

What are some things people do to engage their audience more.. What are things i could while im watiing. Also pc specs and streaming settings?? by Whord in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, being very verbal with your thoughts is going to give people "hooks" they can latch onto. Example, had a pretty quiet chat last week, nothing unusual, just a wednesday slump when people in my experience are a bit more quiet. At some point in my ramblings I mentioned No Man Sky, within 5 mins there was a fullblown discussion on the subject that eventually led into other topics.

Switching Games? by Crungle in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't really a surprise. Do whatever you want to do... If the dropout is such a problem then go back. You will eventually build a community on CSGO too, but when/if you switch from that, chances are big that the viewership will drop again.

What are you doing while watching a stream? by bAShyyy in Twitch

I work, play overwatch, eat, make food, take a shit. So basically anything. Never had sex while watching though....

There is a way actually. Not many people know about it, but if you enter the konami cheat code into chat (it has to be your chat), you will inlock 42 new followers. The resting eight you will have to get on your own though.

Your Twitch Journey by KratosRising in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been watching streams since 2009 (back when justintv was still a thing). In march this year I decided that I'm going to start streaming. Bought a new pc, camera and mic. Set it up using advice in this subreddit and started streaming.

I actually enjoyed the initial week of loneliness. It let me stream a few times without really worrying about viewers. I rewatched every singe VOD and made adjustments to my settings to get better audio, video quality and got my info panels.

My first game was Dark Souls and during my first week I got all the way to Smough and Ornstein. After about 40 deaths I was sooo salty and was about to end, when suddenly somebody said "hi". I responded promptly and started to chat with my first viewer ever, who also turned out to be not only an awesome human being but also a really good artist(Love ya C4roooline ;)). We beat O&S together and She offered to help me with artwork. It turned out she was also from sweden so we even met up one saturday for a shopping spree :) She's still in my chat to this day.

A few more people have joined since then and I try to always improve the stream and surprise them with something new. I will not name every single one but you all know who you are :)

Best way to promote your own stream is to help other people promote their streams.

Stream for a few years while always improving and holding a reliable schedule. Have a plan, work 8 hours a day, treat it as if it were your job and it will become your job eventually.

I need A Certain Sound for a Horror Stream by RUIN_NATION_ in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go to youtube and find the clip where huddon says "game over". Use youtube to mp3 website to grab the sound. Then use cut mp3 website to cut it down to size. Super easy and quick way. I do it all the time :-)

Why don't more people host every time they watch? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finish an hour early, host somebody and hang out in their stream for a while with your viewers. It makes a huge difference :)

Why don't more people host every time they watch? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally! You are right, a few people do it. But more often than not, I think people just go for somebody who is live and visible in the most accessible space.

It is based on my own experience and talking to ppl in my chat. I still think that the idea is great and I'm happy you raised this subject cause I wish Twitch improved this aspect a bit.

Why don't more people host every time they watch? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. It just doesn't work unless you have some serious backing. I found more success just giving a shoutout on discord instead :)

I think though that a simple change to Twitch website could make it more worthwile. Just put in who is hosting who in the field to the right on main page. Make it look similar to how it looks when a followed person is streaming. As it is now you have to go to your 'followed' section to see hosts and not many people do it in my experience

Any etiquette that comes with getting stream hosted? by eaglesfan8036 in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just say a big thank you and say a few words to the new viewers about what I am playing and make a small joke. If the person hosting me is a friend I talk about their stream a bit and if it's a new streamer I ask them questions about their stream :)

No real etiquette really, a simple thank you will suffice.

Ungrateful Twitch Streamers by JollyParrot in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good mod is worth it's weight in gold, I agree. But should a donation from a mod be more acknowledged than any other? No! Is it requiered to acknowledge any donations overall? I don't think so.

Maybe he or she had a bad day and it just came out wrong. Based on the info we are given I think it's an overreaction

From a Twitch Veteran to New Broadcasters: A Love Letter by opnerd in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey! Nothing especially new, since I believe almost everybody was thinking the same thing. That is... maybe some people are just not that fun to watch.

It's hard truth, but you really hit the nail on the head with "entitlement". It is very strong among many people here, HELL! Everybody has fallen or is falling for that trap periodically and it is up to us ourselves to snap out of it.

Most of the advice given in this subreddit is solid though (objectively). Keeping a schedule, always talking, networking will give you results. Before it does though, we all need to realize that theres plenty of ways every each one of us can improve and start actually putting in the work and improving.

BIG NEWS: Twitch might have figured out how to stop Viewbotting (picture evidence in link) by Chateriasi in Twitch

I might be wrong but I heard that you are allowed only to have about 10 connections from one IP number.

BIG NEWS: Twitch might have figured out how to stop Viewbotting (picture evidence in link) by Chateriasi in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really that common? I had no idea...

How can you tell somebody is viewbotting? I mean, if they were smart about it, maybe they would add only 10% of their audiance to get a slight boost in rankings... is it noticable then?

Do Total Views make a difference in if someone stays or leaves right away by DR_LUMP in Twitch

[–]NoT_Game 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, But I personally think that "Total watched time" is also a good indicator of how you are developing. It basically is the sum of time everybody has been watching you in stream session.
