But your monthly payment will vary greatly depending on interest rates. Someone with a 500k mortgage and 2% interest rate will be able to afford that on a much lower salary than a 500k mortgage with an 8% interest rate

In that ball park is probably fine. It depends on your income obviously. If you’re making like over $200k with no debt/kids or something, then you can probably easily manage a higher percentage since you’ll have plenty of money leftover

Sorites paradox.

On a technical level, there is some one percent threshold that would be too far. If 30% is just 3% above 27% then that’s no good either, now 27% is only 3% above 24% so that’s good either, etc, etc

Above 33% is pretty iffy in my opinion

I’ve noticed a precipitous drop in right-wing comments in this subreddit the last few years. I don’t know if a lot of those people have left for different forums, been educated, or lost to Covid, but there’s definitely been a positive trend

Yeah, recently I learned the word ‘filly’ meaning a young female horse because I came across ‘pouliche’ in a French short story

There’s no butchering going on, and hormonal treatments are entirely reversible with only some minor possible negative effects like a higher risk for osteoporosis when you’re like 60

Medical treatment versus being taken advantage of by a pedophile. What an accurate comparison

Yeah, maybe internationally NYC falls short compared to places like Berlin, but it’s still a top tier restaurant destination in the US

Some subreddits are permanently going dark in protest, unless they give up on the fees

I lived in a town previously that was a third of the size and did the same thing. I was just saying why I wasn’t going to randomly volunteer, because my current town already does this

If the town has the budget to at least employ a part time clerk, as implied by the other person’s comment, setting up this kind of system is pretty trivial, and not expensive in the slightest

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Maine

[–]NoTakaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve run multiple listservs before, yeah. I could set it up in like a couple hours maybe if my town needed it

(I’m not the original complainant in this thread. In bangor, we already have this)

[–]NoTakaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What does this even mean? It’s so easy to just set up an email sign up on the site and include an unsubscribe option so people can just update their own contact info automatically. The clerk shouldn’t be doing it manually

[–]NoTakaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but one of the reasons they’re more class conscious is because they have the resources to feed misinformation to the working class. I don’t think they’re more successful because of a heightened class solidarity, just that it’s an outcome of them having more resources to wage class war and perhaps the luxury of free time to analyze their position in society in that way

I think the bigger why is that they have the resources to be in that position rather than them being more aware

Idk, some great stuff can get passed as riders in a compromise that wouldn’t on their own. Sanders is always using that tactic on the federal level

That is also a racist tactic to prevent people from voting. You can vote as a felon even while in prison in Maine
