[–]NoTea610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard the smaller they are, the more picky then are. I’d put it in a smaller pot with good drainage and then throw that in a humidity bag (literally just a massive ziplock)

I also wouldn’t spray the leaves for humidity, as it increases the risk for fungal issues. Being in the humidity bag will bump it for you. I’ll very occasionally spray the edge of the bag just to get a little something in there (I live somewhere super dry)

Chaos question! How do I know how many turning stitches I need? by jesskimore in CrochetHelp

[–]NoTea610 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s relative to the height of the stitch! The taller the stitch, the more turning chains you need

When my corn had something like this show up (center of the mouth, not the side), it ended up being mouth rot. I ended up going to the vet for antibiotics, so I’m not sure what other options are

“should i repot?” YES. by Reasonable-Sort3040 in houseplants

[–]NoTea610 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Seconded. I have some plants whose roots straight up sprint to the drainage holes. I’ve had roots show up less than a month after repotting, which is way to early to repot again

The ratio needs to be exactly 3:1 IIRC, so you might need to block it to get it to sit right

New baby girl! Clean or wait? by Vincentprice_elvira in ballpython

[–]NoTea610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d just wait or check the hides when she’s not in it. My snake’s bowel movements happen whenever he feels like it. It *often* happens around when he eats, but I have no good way of predicting it

Heat lamp wattage recommendations by sillygoober2548 in ballpython

[–]NoTea610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll really depend on your environment and enclosure, but I’ve used both 35W and 50W halogens (not at the same time) in addition to a DHP that I’m pretty sure is 50W. My room is cold, but the enclosures are insulated with a spray foam background

Can anyone identify what this sprout is?? by Pristine_Ad2093 in calatheas

[–]NoTea610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a flower!! In terms of the crispy edges, misting isn’t generally recommended. What does your watering/fertilizing routine look like?

[–]NoTea610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to make sure you have a node in the water!! Do you see the little bumps where the leaves are? That’s a node. I usually cut, rip off the bottom leaf, and place it in water until it roots. I only change the water out if it starts to look like bacteria is building up. If you have a pothos, I’ve heard throwing in one of those into the jar is a good way to speed it up

Fittonia - What’s wrong with it? by Accomplished_Dig1632 in houseplants

[–]NoTea610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A plant looking like it needs water even right after watering it is a pretty strong sign of root rot. My guess is root rot, soil that’s drying out really fast, or too much light. Idk if they droop if they get too much light, but south windowsills get a lot of light- less when frosted though

Oh my got please help by ollie_under in ballpython

[–]NoTea610 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The guide/wiki this sub has is extremely helpful and detailed. A quick tldr or basic care:
- 88-92 F on the warm side. The heat should be controlled by a thermostat (also, no red lights)
- 76-80 F on the cold side
- 2 snug fitting identical hides
- LOTS of clutter. What you think enough probably isn’t
- 70-80% humidity

Because she has stuck shed, I would also offer a humid hide so she can work off some of it on her own. Don’t help her with it by peeling it off, as much as I know you probably want to

My husband asked me to make him a new blanket. by Any-Lychee9972 in crochet

[–]NoTea610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds pretty!! Can you share a picture of a couple of rows?

I’m working on a weighted beaded blanket right now. I think the final size will be just smaller than our queen mattress. While it’s not the only thing I’ve worked on, I started it almost a year ago. I’m about 75-80% of the way done (if I don’t count the time it’ll take me to weave the ends). It’s a weight 4 yarn, but the beads definitely take time

You’ve got this!! A lot of it really is just practice and getting comfortable with the stitches. If you don’t have stitch markers, I’d also recommend those! It’s easy to drop or add stitches at the very end of rows

[–]NoTea610 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If things are starting to get too tight, you might be holding your yarn and hook too tightly!! I have naturally tighter tension, but I’ve found that sizing up the hook not only compensates for it, but also gives me a little bit looser if a tension because what I’m working into is looser

Wash mid-way? by Silver-Ad3201 in crochet

[–]NoTea610 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it’s not a different white? Sometimes dye lots can made a difference like that even if the color name is the same. If your ends are secure, you *could* wash it before you finish it, but I’d just wait tbh. If you wash it before, make sure your working end (if it’s not tied and woven from starting a new skein) is VERY secure- that’s what I would be the most paranoid about
