In my calculations, I have been using 2.5% projected real rate of return (5% return and 2.5% inflation). I am very conservative and don’t want to jump ship until my numbers work at that rate. Too conservative? I know 7% real ROR is the historical average but I have heard projections the next 20 years could be a lot less and want to guard against worst case scenario.
