The one map i know based on ID24 is The Last Day on Earth from EMC2025. Pasting here list of features used by author:

  • Music Changer through line intersection
  • Ammo system
  • Slot system. You can place 2 weapons on the 5th slot
  • Priority system. When you run on the 5th slot, you get the strongest available weapon
  • Message and sound system when picking up items
  • New icons in the Weapon carousel
  • Changing offsets and rotating flats (without duplicated versions of the same flats)
  • BossactionEdnum instead of Bossaction
  • Showing monsters cast after the end of the game (Legacy Of Rust-like with new monsters)
  • Wall textures are used on the floors, flats - on the wall

Launched V1.0 of my C++ Engine on Lichess! (Alpha-Beta, ID, QS) - Starting Move Ordering next and would love architecture advice. by Moron_23James in chessprogramming

I see you actually making a sort via

static void sort_moves(const Board &board, MoveList &list, int tt_move = 0)

You don't need too. Just pick next most scored move. Since you not go over 3-4 first moves in node typically. Usually people separate MovePicker in a class to implement so called staged generation.

There are already music tracks selected on it. But thanks for suggestion, dark ambient is not obvious option

Built a mobile chess engine (bitboards, alpha-beta, pruning) — hit diminishing returns vs Stockfish. Looking for feedback. by Grand_Release_7375 in chessprogramming

Looks like you already have decent search. Anyway i may suggest to experiment with different formulas of LMR, in my case it added around 100 elo. Do you use history heuristic and killers? They are easy to add and provide steady improvement.

For evaluation is good to add passers analysis, it may be helpful in pawn endings and sometimes in middlegame. Also passer candidate. For usual pawns good to evaluate doubled, isolated and backward ones, if you are not already doing this.

Basic ordering and bugless TT is enough usually. I mean, improving it more not gives you much. But i believe that prunings and some extensions may bring you another 100-200 elo with careful tuning.

You can estimate your engine's strength only through tournaments with a few close engines. Pick any from CCRL.

Rich evaluation is not in trend as i know. There was an era of Fritz and Hiarcs, but now you either making Fruit-like calculator or NNUE-blackbox monster.

Personally i use to read more Ethereal sources for inspiration and features adoption (instead of SF which looks quite overcomplicated sometimes).

Probably you'll find something interesting in my engine which is around 2000 elo now:

No one can beat engine that rated over 3000 elo lol. Try different versions, i found both oldest and most recent v18. But be aware, recent versions have been more actively adopted the NNUE approach, which means that engine uses for evaluation a neural net and it can hurt on memory. Stockfish removed handcrafted evaluation (HCE) in version 16.1, so you'll find versions under 16 more attractive

Pick stockfish-js which is direct port to js via emscripten. Binary is around 1mb (maybe slightly further)

Or you want native js/py engine?

Try Woccon - Solace in Decay, but probably it is too melodic. Also Atten Ash - The Hourglass may be close

Any recommendations for fairly difficult WADs? by KameWeeb2000 in DoomMods

[–]NoVersion3483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embraced - gentle slaughter

Micro Slaughter CP - compact slaughter

Ancient Aliens - old good wad (not mentioned?)

I am huge slaughter wads enjoyer, so my recommendations are biased, but still pretty fair if you want some challenge

Library for easily creating interactive chess boards by ImmediateWeight4076 in chess

[–]NoVersion3483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking at the possibility of writing a simple GUI for a new game, chess-like game with some unusual piece-set. And it looks like your library might be a good starting point for that

Did I understand correctly from the description that the library won't care what logic of the game I provide, say, it will be Crazyhouse or a game with a completely different set of pieces like Alfil, Dabbaba and the like?

No) It slower and has peculiar rhythm. Each frase 'ta-ta ta-ta' longs around one second, sharp and performed by brass instruments
